Dakota

A call from my oldest with news the my grandson, Dakota was injured in a sledding accident over the weekend.  His right hand was broken after hitting a tree.  At 10 years old that is bad news because it is his gaming hand and he had MEAPs this week.  Surgery should be scheduled in the next couple of days.  But we at least feel fortunate that he wasn’t more seriously hurt.  So if you have a moment say a little prayer for a good surgery and recovery for him please.  Thanks!

About Momma

I was 77-years-old on February 22 and I'm amazed to see it. Mother of two sons and one daughter (Bloggers SEB and Cindyisms are two of them). Grandmother of three. Retired after 29 years+ at Michigan Bell Telephone and ten+ years with The Oakland Press. I was active with the telephone company union and a Dale Carnegie graduate. I work at crocheting, knitting, making ornaments, and other projects. With my husband I can 300 or 400 half pints of jam, chutney, plus cabbage relish, pickled beets and cinnamon fruit every summer to give away. I was clown doing parades, parties, and picnics for about 15 years. My other passions are music from the 50s through the 70s, reading, and of course blogging!

  1. It is 4:15pm on 2/3/04 and Dakota just called to tell me the Doctor said that if his hand is kept still(immobilized) he will heal naturally.  No surgery, so thank you Wyllow and others that took time to think of him.

  2. The good news is missing MEAPs is not necessarily all that bad.  They are more for the use of Schools and Government to measure “average education attainment” and dole out monies.  Trust the Ex-El Ed teacher… it’s not that big of a deal.

Another silver lining:  If the game hand is out of commission; Dakota could try and develop his left-hand manipulation!  He will definitely get practice with entertaining himself w/o the use of electric (video games) devices.  This could be a good brain exercise to grow his patience and over-all creativity wells!  Could!  It will most likely be truly frustrating (for the parents too), but it could lead to broadening his horizons (maybe?)!
