The Wood Pile

Yesterday it was off to the awsome woodpile.  It is an unsightly pile of branches, vines, and sticks that grew from the storms breaking limbs off, cutting branches that hung to low or intruded into the growth of other trees, and David just getting pissed off when trying to cut down a dead apple tree.  When the saw started to fail David got angry and ripped the tree out of the ground.

I tried to burn some yesterday but I didn’t have enough larger pieces ready to keep the fire going.  My big chain saw is too much for Jay or I to handle and my little chainsaw is loaned out, so I was using a reciprocating saw to cut thicker branches and loppers to cut smaller ones.  Anyway the blade on my saw broke which meant I had to work with the loppers.  My fire went out and my zest for accomplishment faltered.  So I gave up for the day.

I think I’m going to go buy some more saw blades and when I get back I am going to pull the shredder out of the shed for the small stuff and cut up the larger stuff for burning.

Ain’t nothing like a 69 year old lumber jack for displaying tenacity!!

About Momma

I was 77-years-old on February 22 and I'm amazed to see it. Mother of two sons and one daughter (Bloggers SEB and Cindyisms are two of them). Grandmother of three. Retired after 29 years+ at Michigan Bell Telephone and ten+ years with The Oakland Press. I was active with the telephone company union and a Dale Carnegie graduate. I work at crocheting, knitting, making ornaments, and other projects. With my husband I can 300 or 400 half pints of jam, chutney, plus cabbage relish, pickled beets and cinnamon fruit every summer to give away. I was clown doing parades, parties, and picnics for about 15 years. My other passions are music from the 50s through the 70s, reading, and of course blogging!
