That Is Good!

Long day yesterday with results that were disappointing.  But we will talk about that after the next appointment with the heart doctor, “cause my momma always said , “If you can’t say something nice—don’t say nothin’ at all!”

The Frankenstein afgan however is now within nine inches of being wide enough but lacks 39 inches in length.  I spent alot of time on it while waiting yesterday.  It is still the best way to pass the time on a long wait.

Tomorrow is shear the “old farts” day!  I can hardly see Jay’s mouth and his eyebrows would have made John L. Lewis green with envy!  My head looks like I combed my hair with a mix master!  I am so tired of looking through gray strands.  Now I know how my son’s dog sees the world!  So after 2:00pm tomorrow I hope to see a haircut the is almost a brush—on me that is and being able to see Jay smile again!

I still find myself taking a deep breath when I think of the Nash family.  I hope the Majesky’s Dad is getting better. Also that Edna’s hubby is still doing ok!  That Bernice is feeling better and that Caroline’s mother will be out of the hospital soon.  So many people who need caring about that we don’t have time to worry about us right now and that is good.

The Frankenstein Afgan!

All the disassembling,  strand separating from three to two, and the ball winding is now complete.  I have decided to name this the Frankenstein Afgan because it will be made of hundred on knots that tie the strands together!  I may even shorten the name to Franky!

My first thought was how will I hide all the ends that will show as the afgan progresses.  That is when the’ Frankenstein’ idea entered my mind.  I figure if the Evil One doesn’t like it I’ll make him another one!!

This is all there is at the moment but I’ll start tomorrow on ‘construction!!

Actually the picture shows some oe the squares to be separated yet.  But you get the idea!!

Jay’s heart Cath is in the morning and with the kidney condition we have a bit of apprehension but it is going to be fine.  So I’ll close for tonight so i can get up early but we will visit again.

Goodbye

The Journal story said he loved his family, his wife, and his customers.  A odd thing to say about David Nash ?  Not at all when you came to know him and his wife Dawn.  Both work hard seven days a week 365 days a year.  They delivered The Flint Journal in Lapeer and here in Forest Township.

David always had a smile, a word of encouragement,  compliment for you every time he saw you and he saw us alot.  He used to back into a driveway across the street from us to turn around at the end of his route.  We suggested one day that he turn around in our yard to avoid backing up in the street.  So when he came up to turn around he would hand us the paper if we were outdoors or toss on the porch.  He had a safe place to turn around and we didn’t have to walk the roughly 400 feet down and back up the driveway.  In return we sent jams home with him to the family.  He would always bring the jars back, smile. and say how good it was or how the family liked it.

Last Thursday David was unusally late on his route and when I called his home I was told he had died sometime around 1:00 or 2:00 pm that afternoon.  I didn’t call back because the situation had to have been difficult and confusing but left an E-mail for Dawn.

We learned Friday he had lost his life in an accident at the start of his route.  Gone now is a loving Father,  Grandfather, and Husband.  But also lost is a man who cared enough about his work and for the people he served to go out of his way for them.

Our thoughts of comfort go out to his family.
Goodbye David and thank you for the pleasant memories.

Give A Man Some Sight!

Today Jay spent time in the kitchen.  The main dish for supper was Beef Bourguignon Which with a little assist from me he created.  The picture is burning off the Cognac.

We also tried a bread pudding in the slow cooker.  In between the time he needed help I started sorting by categories the big recipe loose leaf binder he started some time back.  I named it Jay’s Want To Tries!  If all goes well he will be starting a blog on cooking, gardening, and domes soon!

January 2nd!

How could I forget to mention that on January 2nd Sweet Thing and David came to visit.  Now as is usual this involved getting out the old Kenmore sewing machine for a little ‘jeans renewal’.  Even I had a pair to put a seam back in.

But the most important thing was Jay was seeing well enough to make out the questions on the TABOO game cards.  After a few hesitant moments he was playing like a pro.  It was a joy to watch!  This is an indication that Dr. Ross may be able to do a laser treatment at the next appointment.  One step closer to reading clearly!  Thank you my children for taking the time.

He and David even put the driveway doorbell back in that day because the weather was rainy but not snowy or cold!  When you are sitting at the breakfast table in a nightgown and there is a knock on the kitchen door the mind goes haywire!  Shall I run get a robe first or see who is there and then get the robe?  Of course seeing a winkled, disheveled creature lurching towards you in an old nightgown is the stuff heart attacks are made of and I don’t remember my CPR that well.  But when the first four notes of Beethoven’s Fifth sound we can run to grab a robe before our doorway is darkened by a visitor thus saving the his/her life and EMS a frantic run to emergency!  Boy getting old is so much fun ain’t it!

New Project!

Yep here it is the new project!  I made this originally but I seem to have no luck with anything that has squares to be sewn together .  I have repaired it before but I have decided to go with a different pattern.  So the big job has been taking it apart and separating the amount of strands to use.  I have to admit a couple of times I have almost pitch it out but I know I can do it !  I figure I’ll have time to work on during Jay’s heart cath. and the rest of the Dr. appointments this month!

I took advantage of the couple of warm days we had right around New Years to take down and put away the outside decorations.  Monday the last of the inside decoration came down and were packed away.  Boy this house sure looks sad now.

Today it was write checks which in turn means clean out the files of 2004 and set up 2005.  Get the income tax information together and start the new forms for Jay’s blood pressure, sugar, and a record of the medical expenses.  But I’m sure you are going through the same type of procedure.

I guess I’ll go back to untangling for a little while longer tonight and I’ll be back to visit again!

Hope?

Take a deep breath in 2005!
Smile real big you are still alive!

Broadband, insurance, taxes, and healthcare,
Climbing ever higher, got you swinging in the air!

You look for words of comfort, knowledge, and solutions,
You wonder if to fix it you need a revolution,

But take comfort in knowing that you are not alone in this.
We are right along with you just like a school of fish!

And if the sharks don’t catch us and put us in a fix.
We’ll swim with guts and glory straight through to 2006!
