Homemade!

I thought I would try my hand at making a Valentine for you.  So I dug into the old supply folder and found a couple of items to start!  I tried to remember how to cut a lacy doily but it turned out a little sad.  I guess you have to be young to make pretty ones.  After I glued it together I picked up all the pieces of paper I’d dropped on the floor.  I gave it a critical eye and decided that seeing you haven’t had a homemade Valentine from an old woman it was something new and you would like it anyway!!  So here you are—Have a Lovely Valentines day!!

Wow!

What an early Valentine gift this was!

It was a heart shaped cake pan from Williams- Sonoma with a strawberry mix to bake in it!

The Hubby set about mixing and filling that new pan.  The mix had sliced strawberries in it!

After it baked it was time to cool.  It looks pretty good!

How does it smell oh mighty baker?

It looks delicious—now to add the fresh strawberries dipped in german chocolate!

Now just to stay out it until tomorrow!  This was such a surprise from the man who normally finds a card On Valentines Day!

Love Is

Love is the feeling you get when you see the diamonds shining in the snow from the sun shine!

It is the smile that lights up your face when another human in the grocery store takes the time to acknowledge you.

It is the kiss on the forehead you earned because you cared.

It is a child’s shy grin when you wink at them across the room.

It is the way your children hug you—first with their head on your breast, then with arms around your knees,  then that quick squeeze because it really ain’t that cool, and finally the arms enveloping you to comfort and steady you!

Love is the hundreds of pictures drawn by your grandkids to be hung up all over the house and the hours you spend together over the puzzles, dominos or the card games.

It is the moments you spend looking over the photos of loved ones,  how they have changed through the years, and the pride you have in them.

Love is the way you review all the years of your life.  The mistakes made, the victories, the losses, the knowledge gained, hearts that are broken, the hope that is shared, the friends that are made and the people forgotten!

Love is the commitment to another person that last through the trials of life.  To remain together through the good times and the bad.

It is the little rituals you share,  how you take care of each other when one is ill,  how you both look forward to a better day tomorrow, and the warmth of each others arms .

Love is the words that are spoken ,  the deeds that done,  the happiness that is spread, and the comfort that is exchanged.

The He-mote!

Just in time for Valentines Day but it could be adapted to birthdays, wedding anniversaries, Christmas, and ‘don’t be mad I didn’t mean to piss you off’’ days!  Believe me I have checked the internet, the drugstores, the card shops, the department stores, and the hardwares but this handy gizmo is nowhere to be found.  I guess I’ll have to check with my dear friend to see where she found it.  She called it a He-mote but the electronic sites don’t seem to have it in stock.  So if you happen to find one please send this old lady a heads up !

I really love the Buy Me buttons!

Gonna Have To Keep Them Dry Longer!

Yep a call from the doctor’s office informed us that Jay’s surgery will be on the 1st of March!  That means another week to get some things under control!

I finished the back of the sweater today and started the right front!

I have a lunch planned with the woman who helped me raise the Cindyism.  Margerite and I were born the the same day.  I in the morning and her in the afternoon.  So I am the old lady of this duo!  I had promised her last year that we were going to lunch or dinner when we turned 70.  So it will be a few days early but on the 18th we are going to pig out!!!

Well the snow is back!  I don’t know if I like it or not.  The world looks so much nicer with the blanket of white diamonds but the cold plays hovac on the system.  Hope you are staying warm, healthy, and happy !!!

Keeping My Slippers Dry And My Spirits Up!

This is the start of my ‘sit on my butt in front of the TV and keep warm at night’ sweater!  As I said before I’m not sure I like the color but as long as it is warm I don’t mind!!

I will have plenty of time to work on it next week.  Jay’s surgery will be next Tuesday.  I think Cindy and possibly Debra, Wes’  wife, be there with me.  So I got to be an extra good girl and keep Jay’s spirits up.  So I won’t pee in my slippers or yell when he doesn’t put the mouse back on the charger when he is done surfing!!!

So If I am not around a whole lot please bear with me and I’ll do my best!!  You stay warm , healthy, and happy in the meantime!!!

Retrieved Moments!

SEB and family came up today and he worked his magic on my machines!!  I now have an optical mouse that charges on the stand again.  I seem to be able to get my pictures transferred from camera to computer again and still have the mouse respond.  I took notes on a couple of things I want to master.  I can get my E-mail on computer #2 also so I’m happy as a pig in mud in right now!

The other reason was that I spent time playing Dominos with my grand-daughter Courtney.  I sat across from her thinking that many years ago a smiling white haired lady sat across from me playing dominos and whistling ever so softly.  Almost a whisper more than a whistle that she did when concentrating on the games or puzzles. .  This was my grandmother who always had time to play dominos or put together jig saw puzzles with us kids!

Les came up to the table and said he remembered playing with his grand father.  So some moments from the past were retrieved and smiled over for a few moments!!

Are We Valuable?

We are more valuable than any of the younger generations:

We have silver in our hair.

We have gold in our teeth.
We have stones in our kidneys.
We have lead in our feet.

We have titanium in our hips.

We have change in our pockets.

We have expensive prescriptions in our blood.

and …..
We are loaded with natural gas.

SSSS MODEL

All right the cat is fed, my pills taken, teeth in, (that stapled tongue thing) dishwasher emptied, preparations for Jay’s medicine ritual ready, and as I look down I discover that my nightgown is inside out!! Now tell me, would you want a woman handling your silverware, feeding your pets, and getting your medication set out that can’t even put on a nightgown right?  Man, I would think twice before I hired her, let-alone married her!! But hey I show up everyday, don’t ask for a vacation day, and never expect a bonus.  So there are some plus sides to the deal!!! Also I can still drive a four wheel drive pick up, argue well on unreasonable telephone calls, pay the bills before they are due, run the wood chipper, handle the bags of wild bird seed, softener salt, and cat litter.  I can even drive the tractor to plow the driveway or cut the grass.

So I guess I’m classified as a SSSS model!  A Simple Sturdy Super Spouse!!!!  At least for the shape I’m in!!!!

AS I AGE!

The Doctor visits are over for this week but a change in medication means a 30 mile trip every three days until we know how the change is working.

My brother called this morning to say he found another job.  That is one down and two to go.

I bought the Homespun yarn for my ‘sit on your butt and stay warm at night while watching TV’ sweater.  I’m not happy with the color but I know for my coloring it is good.  When SEB comes out this weekend to look at # 1 computer I should be able to take a picture to show you the color.  Until then it is climb the stairs to # 2 computer and stay in touch.

An E-mail from an old friend brought these words of wisdom the other day.
                            Getting Old!
“Old” is when …you are cautioned to slow down by the doctor instead of the police.
“Old” is when …“Getting a little action” means I don’t need to take any fiber today.
“Old” is when..“Getting lucky” means you find your car in the parking lot.
“Old” is when..an “All-nighter” means not getting up to pee.
“Old” is when …your sweetie says, “Let’s go upstairs and make love.”  And you answer, “Pick one, I can’t do both”.
“Old” is when..your friends compliment you on your new alligator shoes and you’re barefoot.
“Old” is when …A sexy babe catches your eye and your pacemaker opens the garage door.
“Old” is when going bra-less pulls all the wrinkles out of your face.
“Old” is when.. you don’t care where your spouse goes,  just as long as you don’t have to go along.
So many are so true!!!!  Thank you Dar!
