Busy But Happy!

Our visitors on Tuesday afternoon were Dar and Michael from Holbrook, NY. They had supper with us then Jay and I decided it was time for a pinochle lesson. Neither of them had played it before but they were both willing to learn. Their next lesson will be in February when they revisit. The next morning it was Belgian waffles with strawberries, or a choice of syrups. Then they were off to Adrian.

Wednesday it was the ear doctor for Jay and I. I still say he has selective hearing because doesn’t hear a word I say. But Doctor said he was fine for his age. Those men really stick together. After the doctor appointment we went shopping at Sam’s Club without the truck breaking down.  Maybe we finally broke the jinx!

Yesterday we bought the fixings to make lentil and barley soup with the Honey Baked ham bone but Jay didn’t start it until today. Yesterday was also pick up the 96 milk jugs along the driveway and take them to the basement. I had planned to remove the candle remnants and sift the sand back into the buckets. But it had rained Saturday and Wednesday so the sand was wet and the jugs had to dry out before I can sift it. So with Jay’s help they are sitting near the furnace for a few days .

Today with the snow pretty well melted and the temperatures in the upper 30s I decided that it was time to roll up the extension cords, and store all the outside decorations except for the lights on the roof line of the house. So Buck, Doe, and the sled are hanging on the wall in the basement so I don’t drive myself crazy trying to reassemble them next year.

I’m working on another project so I’m going to pick up the knitting needles again tonight for awhile. That is after I make lemon chicken for supper. I think a lettuce and fruit cocktail salad will go with it.

Tomorrow I start removing the decorations inside.  It is Wes’ birthday but I think a phone call and a gift a little later in the week will have to suffice. Since the accident I have sprouted feathers when it comes to driving after dark. I’ll spend much of the day packing ornaments and do dads because Cindy and David will be up Sunday to help me take the tree down and stow the plastic bins away for another year.

It’s been a busy week but a happy one!

  1. Holy Cow!  YaHoo maps says the trip from Holbrook to Hooter/Otis-ville is 760 miles distance @ 12 hours travel time.
Such good friends deserve pinochle lessons and waffles.
    I’m glad you had Fun!!
