Celebrate This Easter Day!

Now we all know the difference between this bunny

and this bunny!

The second one has gained 1 lb. and 7 ozs since last month for a total of 3 lbs. and 11 ozs. So I think it is time to post this warning!

Because although Brandy doesn’t eat chocolate—-you and I do.

Take care and have a Happy Easter!
From Momma, Jay, Molly, Spirit, Teki, Chips, and Brandy!

Upset!

The tree in the side yard called to me today saying, ” See my buds there almost blossoms so Spring is truly here”.

After a few days of having to fix things in before I could do the planned on chore I was getting pretty upset. First Jay and I were working on getting the barrels ready for planting. We needed to move the tractor but found the battery was dead so we had to take time out to charge it. Next we tried to hook up the mower drive shaft but that tale of woe is on Jay’s blog.

Yesterday I went to mop the kitchen, bath, and utility room floors when I noticed lint all over the utility room . I moved the dryer to find out that the vent hose had come off and there were holes in the end of it . I tried taping it and reattaching it but to no avail.  I finally decided that a five mile trip to Millington Hardware was in order and took time to drive there to find another hose. I came home with a great item that takes up only two inches behind the dryer but unfortunately I could make it work with my setup . So it was back to the hardware and I ended up with an aluminium pipe that I. with Jay’s help was able to make work. The only bad things were that I wanted to plug the dryer back in before we connected the pipe but Jay said it wasn’t necessary and I ended up climbing half way over the top of the dryer to plug the darn thing in. The other bad thing was the time wasted because I ended up getting only two of the floors mopped last night and had to do the other this morning

.

I took a walk around the house after shopping this morning and found the flowers all ready out.

The Sand Cherry that was ruined when a storm spit it’s trunk has started life again as a bush after I cut it back.

On the far side of the house the forsythia was flashing it’s yellow blooms my way. How can one stay upset when the flowers start, the sun shines, and your coat gets too warm when you stroll outside?

The Under The Shelf Bed.

Finally finished and in place in time for an Easter sleepover.

This is the frame in the room waiting to do dressed!

The air mattress is blown up, sheets and blankets in place, and a big old pillow on top.

The bed is now tucked under the shelf.

This is where the bed is when not in use. So it is a computer room by day and a bedroom by night with only a minor change needed. We will give you a review on it after Easter!

Now it is back to the hooded baby blanket!

On This Day April 10!

Good Morning Again! Well I have been able to lurk around my blog haunts a little each day but to visit with you seemed a difficult task to accomplish these last few days. So it is catch up time but not in chronological order.

This afternoon Jay and I will finish giving the garden barrels their new coat of brown paint. All 12 barrels were painted on the bottom and down the sides except for five of them in the basement which need the last six or so inches done all the way around. They will be place along the edge of the cement pad which runs under the deck at the back of the dome. Next step will be to fill them which will be another post.

We also worked on building the frame for the box that will become the under the shelf bed in the upstairs computer room. I need to sand the edges to remove those pesky slivers and finish painting it. We have a twin size Aero mattress, new sheets, and a pillow to add to the blanket and twin comforter purchased previously. By golly no more sleeping on the couch for the visiting grand-kids now.

Both of these task were completed with co-operation between a semi-blind husband and his grumpy, old wife. Amazing what you can do when you take two not completely competent people with the desire to get things done and rub them together.

Well life has changed in the Axsom household because Brandy is sleeping through the night. Instead of barking at 3 or 5 am she has adjusted to 6 or 7 am. What a joy to lay down at 11 pm or 12 am and not have to stagger outside some four hours later especially in slippers, a nightgown, and a jacket. She is due at the Vet’s office on Friday for another check up and more shots. We will then find out how much she has grown then.

The latest in the Molly-Brandy saga is hilarious to say the least. Molly is sneaking up close to Brandy to sniff her. When Brandy discovers her so close she panics and runs for her bed. At least the distance between them before the panic set in is getting shorter and Molly no longer growls at her.

Next project for this morning is shopping. A grocery list for Easter Sunday dinner is waiting on the kitchen counter. Wes, Les and their families will be up along with Richard to partake of what we hope is a good meal. Alas our Cindy has to work. Also on our grocery list is a hardware store list so we can count on our morning being pretty well shot.

The second baby project is a hooded blanket and I now have eight inches to go to complete the blanket part. The hood and edging need to be done so the stress is building a little. The baby is due mid-month and you don’t get much ‘midder’ than this!

The next three days will be spent shoveling out, dusting, and organizing this household so as to present a picture of not quite ‘Martha’ but a little better than pig sty!!!

OK enough procrastination—I must start marching through my day!

Help Arrived

Recorded by Chicago and sent to me by good friend Dar the words to the song I couldn’t remember.  Thank you my friend.

Title: Feelin’ Stronger Everyday

I do believe in you
And I know you believe in me
Oh yeah
Oh yeah

And now we realize
Love’s not all that it’s supposed to be
Oh yeah
Oh yeah

And knowing that you would have wanted it this way
I do believe I’m feelin’ stronger every day

I know we really tried
Together we had a love inside
Oh yeah
Oh yeah

So now the time has come
For both of us to live on the run
Oh yeah
Oh yeah

And knowing that you would have wanted it this way
I do believe I’m feelin’ stronger every day
Yeah, yeah, yeah

After what you’ve meant to me
Ooh baby now
I can make it easily
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I know that we both agree
The best thing to happen to you
Is the best thing that happened to me
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Feelin’ stronger every day
Feelin’ stronger every day
Feelin’ stronger every day
(you know I’m alright now)
Feelin’ stronger every day
(you know I’m alright now)
Feelin’ stronger every day
(you know I’m alright now)
Feelin’ stronger every day
(you know I’m alright now)
Feelin’ stronger every day
(you know I’m alright now)
Feelin’ stronger every day
(you know I’m alright now)
Feelin’ stronger every day
(you know I’m alright now)
Feelin’ stronger every day
(you know I’m alright now

Stronger!

I look at Brandy and the words from a song that I have trouble recalling flash into my mind.  Something like—getting stronger every day—.
This is a picture taken the first week she was with us.

This was taken this morning.

They don’t get much cuter than this!!!

We love her!

Another Morning!

The old clock bongs seven times.  Brandy and I have been outside to the pen—brr.  Molly is in the basement hunting and Jay is still bundled all comfy in bed.

Say did I ever tell you about the old clock?

Nothing real special about it except the brass plaque on the back that reads:  Mary B. Axsom For 25 years service at Michigan Bell Telephone Company 10-08-84. I remember when I proudly showed it to my sister-in-law Peggy as it bonged out the hour. Her reply was, ” Twenty Five long years”! I can still hear her voice as the words matched the frequency of the strikes. It has become such a family joke that even 22 years later Cindy will still repeat those words when she hears the clock.

The first baby blanket is ready to be delivered, I started the second one yesterday but the baby is due around the 19th of this month so I have to work to get it done because I am very slow

Molly just came back upstairs and Brandy is back in her bed for another short snooze so I guess I’ll crawl back in for another hour until the sunshine peeks through around the drawn blinds and heralds another morning that Momma has lived to see!
