Good morning! This is what Spirit keeps repeating in between his mumbling this morning.
The outdoor thermometer is reading 60 degrees—I know that because Brandy and I have been ‘out to go potty’ this morning. (By the way Brandy now weighs a little over six pounds.) There is a nice breeze but the sun is coming up and it will warm quickly now.
There are no hammers yet this morning but I expect the roofer in shortly. More about that later.
All the humans are still sleeping though I just heard a door upstairs close. Molly of course has been outside, back in, downstairs, back up, and still had time to eat a little breakfast in between.
It has been a warm and loving few days around here this week. Mike and Dar came in from Long Island Wednesday night and the adults, myself included, are acting like it is one continuous pajama party. We haven’t enough brains to go to bed at a decent hour.
Thursday night it was tacos for supper, then pinochle after. It was our visitors first time playing with a double deck. I won’t say who won but the girls were smiling after.
Last night as Brandy and I came in from her lesson I caught wafting through the kitchen a most delightful aroma. The people responsible for it were Mike and Dar ( pictured here).

Mike was making Shrimp Scampi and Dar was assisting. On my goodness, placed on a bed of rice, mushrooms, and green peas served with Italian bread and butter. A meal to savor and remember for a long while. We certainly will have the shrimp on hand the next time they come to visit. The bonus is the Michael does up his dishes as he cooks. That is luxury by golly.
Yesterday afternoon we drove (actually Dar drove) to Fenton, Michigan to buy tart cherries for jam. I had warned my hubby that I wasn’t picking because of the rash cause by a reaction between the sun and my medication. Well we arrived to find that there were very little picked tart cherries available but plenty hanging on the trees. Guess what. Mike, Dar, and I picked 14 pounds. No way am I letting anyone drive that far with gas at $2.93 a gallon and come home empty handed. Jay of course has staples in his left arm from the surgery so he was excused. But more about that later also.
Today Cindy and David are coming up to visit and Dave is going to cut the grass that is almost tall enough in places to loose a small dog in and I got the dog. Just another thing that didn’t get done before the surgery. We will might even have David move the garden barrels in preparation for the deck construction.
This afternoon the menu is ‘bar-b-q’ ribs that just need to be warmed up because our grill is still in the basement. I think I’ll make the fruit salad with vanilla dressing to go with it.
Tomorrow we head down to Wes and Deb’s house for the Fourth fireworks.
It sounds like a wonderful visit. Tell your guests that you have a cyberspace buddy they can visit if they will only make scampi. I’ll even play a game or two of Pinocle. The shrimp truly sounded delicious.
Most important though is that all of you are having a wonderful time together.
