Best Laid Plans For An October Day!

Sunday came and I said to myself, “Yep I’m gonna crochet, and just put my feet up.”  Those were the last words and then I made the mistake of putting my head down instead of my feet up.  Gone like dead!  When I finally did wake up there was me, Brandy, and Molly all curled up together!  That really felt good but then realty dawned.  I was going to be late starting supper, no crocheting now.and no clothes being folded.  The price you pay for being lazy.

This afternoon I decided that I had better can a few more jars of Bruschetta In A Jar to have on hand .  So out to McDaniel’s Farm Market for plum tomatoes, to the hardware for more jars, and into Davison for White Wine vinegar (only place around here to find it so I bought two bottles this time).  By the time I got every thing together it was supper time again.  While we were eating Phyllis my neighbor brought over the grape juice for the jelly.  I decided that I would do both tomorrow and just read the paper, change Molly’s box, take the garbage and recycling down to the street for Tuesday pickup, and read blogs and Email for us both.  So everything is ready to start in the morning right after breakfast and I’ll see how far I get. Wish me luck and I’ll say good night for now!

Pleasant Visit -Time To Rest!

Good Morning—Oh Shit I just looked at the clock in the corner of the screen and it is now 12:14 pm.  So much for that happy greeting!  Well the shitty problems are behind us now.  I just finished shoveling the dirt back on the trapdoor that covers the septic tank opening.  The right arm is arguing with me right now but luckily I’m left handed!  ( but by the looks of the red lines on the last sentence it don’t my spelling a bit)!

Wes and Dakota are on the way up to help out on a couple of projects today.  Dakota is going to mow with the lawn tractor and Wes is going to put one of those ‘plastic ’ mailbox/paper box combo up for us.  Not a hard job if you have eyes and energy but unfortunately we lack one or both of those abilities.

We filled the new bird feeder with a different seed this time and it doesn’t seem to be as attractive as our regular seed to our feathered friends.  Jay said it could also be that there is still a lot to eat in the wilds yet.  Well we will see because I have 40 lbs of the new stuff!

I’m looking forward to working on one of my afghans this afternoon with my feet up and my coffee by my side.  An e-mail from Lion Yarns yesterday had free crochet patterns for a S-35 (speed hook).  I already have the hook so I ordered the special yarn and printed out the patterns.  So I had better do the projects, right?

I have my new sign on the front porch which declares the witch is in but I have to hang my Halloween flag yet.  Then it is off to the basement to find the container with the pumpkins and lighted spooky houses to set up!  Well the driveway door bell just announced Wes’ arrival!

It is now 4:46 pm Dakota has most of the yard mowed and the tractor put away.  Wes changed the mailbox, put our address sign on a tree near the road, and corrected the no sound problem on the downstairs computer.  We had hot dogs, salad, and chips for lunch.  The boys just left for home with jam, brucshetta in a jar, and salsa.  Now it is siesta time and Brandy and I are going to take a nap for awhile.  A pleasant visit to dream about.

Made Her Laugh!

Sometimes I think someone is trying to get my goat but I know it ain’t so!!!!
Three days ago a package came by special delivery and I was with Jay visiting Dialysis facilities.  Two days ago when my regular mail lady tried to deliver again I was with Jay at the doctor’s office.  I finally went to the post office later that day and pick up the package.  It turned out to be Dr. Scholl’s socks for Jay from Mike and Dar.  I can’t get them here and they graciously sent them to me.  (Thank you guys)

Yesterday our downstairs toilet stopped up.  Why! We don’t have any kids around here and Jay said he gave up flushing tinker toys years ago.  I worked with the plunger, Draino, and also the snake to no avail.  I left a message for the plumber, who put in our outside faucets this summer, at around 5 pm.  So last night was spent climbing the stairs half asleep to the second floor bathroom about four times.  This morning at a little after 8 am the phone rang and Mr. Wright was on the line.  He asked if we would be home today.  He would try to get by and correct the problem for us.  Not a half hour later two of the men who work for him were at the door.  One of them explained that Mr.Wright had said to come here before starting their route because they want to take care of their ‘elders’ first.  How sweet can that be?

Jay has finally decided on the Dialysis facility near us and now just has to speak to his kidney doctor to send the papers to get started.  He decided to start now so the schedule will be twice a week instead of waiting for a complete function shut down and having to go three times a week.  His personal physician said yesterday that he still needs to increase his activity which is difficult to do when you can’t see where you are going.  Jay got his flu shot yesterday and so did I under protest!  I normally don’t get one .

The trees are changing colors and the fire bush is gorgeous but not pictured because the company has my camera.  I have to get out and take a layer of dirt off the door that cover the hole that the septic tank lid is in.  The man will be here this evening to pump it.  My daughter called last night to see how things were going and I told her that everything was fine except for a few little shitty problems!  At least I made her laugh!!!

One Day

Front page of The Flint Journal Monday Oct. 2, 2006 shows our veterinarian and a story about her part in helping a pet and it’s owner be reunited.  It is good to know that a person you selected to care for your pets has a heart and a purpose to help animals in trouble near or far.  My hat is off to you Dr. Buck!

Tomorrow we start the process of finding a dialysis facility for Jay’s future treatment.  Our first appointment is in Flint, MI.  Then we have two places to visit in Davison, MI which is closer to our home.  After having visited all three we will make a decision on which to use.  Another step towards helping him feel better.

Another example of the invisible strings our pets pull showed up last night.  Molly’s newest trick is to meow you into the utility room so you can watch her eat!  What else can these pets think up to keep us busy.

Well the arm has let up a little so I tried a little crocheting today.  I now has two projects started but nether is very far along.  Oh well one day at a time!

Life In The Sticks

Dog Philosophy # 3
If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.  —Will Rogers

Saturday Cindy and David came up and David moved the air conditioners out of the windows and into the basement.  He then built my winter bird feeder.  To avoid putting nails or screws into the new deck Jay and I devised a rig that is free standing.  It is a regular Rube Goldberg type thing.  David took the parts we had gathered and made it a reality.  The next problem I faced was where to hang the finch feeder.  A visit to my buddy at the ACO Hardware to tell her what I needed and we pulled together the parts for that also.  Now both feeders are on the deck in front of the French doors for our winter entertainment.  When the trusty camera is fixed I’ll post a picture.

I have had a bitch of a time for the last three days with my right arm.  A pain from the elbow up into my neck ending below my ear.  Not every minute but any movement seems to bring it on.  Then my ankles chimed in so I wouldn’t forget their little scream while experiencing the arm thing.  I don’t know if the arm is because of the bone spur or arthritis but it is getting hard to function.

Jay had a little vision for a while today so maybe he is on the mend.  We start his round of Doctor visits this week so we will hear some more about the kidneys and maybe the eye doctor will be able to treat the eye again.

The other big events are getting the septic tank pumped ( Oh Wow) and taking Spirit in for his checkup.  Such is life in the sticks!!!
