Still Preping!

Good morning snow is falling softly then melting quickly in the yard.  Brandy and I have been out already and she is back on ‘momma’s bed’ keeping a sleeping Jay company.  Today is another I’m not sure what to do day but it will fill up quickly.  See I’m one of those ‘but first’ people.  I start something and in the process I spot something else that needs to be done so I stop what I am doing and do the new thing so I won’t forget to get it done.  Now multiple that situation several times a day and sometimes you never get back to the original project.  Sometimes I think I should staple a pad of paper and a pencil to my chest so I can make notes and do jobs in order!

Yesterday went quite well starting with getting up a 6 am with sore shoulders after going to bed at 12:30 am the night before.  I decided to make a double batch of beef stew to freeze for when I can’t get around as well.  It went together well and tasted great ( we took a little for lunch).  After it cooled I put it in containers and now we have five meals in the freezer .  Jay tried a new recipe for chili next which we had for supper.  We aren’t too happy with the spice taste but with some ketchup added it mellowed out so I froze two containers of that also.

Next finally some box packing, which I had put off for a couple of days.  They will probably go out today or tomorrow.  Consequently I have a few more snowmen to make and I bought the yarn for another project on Tuesday to get done.

This Saturday I hope to see SEB and family for a visit (been a while).  Jeanie, my late brother’s fiance, is having a birthday and Jay is making her a special cake so she will be dropping by also.  Sunday is clear so far except I think Cyn and David may bring something to store in the basement, Monday is clear also, Tuesday I take Jay to Dr. Webb’s office for a check up in the arm, Wednesday Is Right Foot day, Thursday is Turkey day and also my day to come home, Friday I begin six weeks as a one legged pirate.  But at least I will still have the foot for later!!!!  I’m so looking forward to someday walking an entire store when shopping with no pain (I hope).

Well I have to get started doing what I’m going to do today if I can figure out what I’m going to do today.  GEE THE 72 YEAR OLD MIND IS A WONDERFUL THING AIN’T IT!!!

Oh please look for Dakota’s paper turkey in the Cornucopia—It is getting too old to stand up by itself just like me ha ha!!!!

Good Decision!

Good Morning!  Well I was going to pack my boxes yesterday but ended up packing someone else’s.  Got a call yesterday morning from Sweet Thing asking what were my plans for the day and was I available to help her.  My daughter has never made a major move and with 11 years of accumulation facing her she sounded quite overwhelmed.  So of course I would drive down and try to help make a dent in the project.

I arrived at about noon and we started on the kitchen.  To me this is the most difficult to pack when you have to determine what can go and what has to remain out in order to survive until the move is complete. Well by around 5:30 pm we had that project, plus the items in the corner cabinet and the video cabinet into boxes and on to two pickups. We packed plaques, pictures, and other item from around the walls while waiting for David to get home from work to carry the heavy things out for us.  It was starting to get dark then and both truck had to be unloaded before we could call it a day.

At 5 am this morning I woke up to feet and ankles that were screaming when I crawled out of bed.  The cane and the walker were out of reach across the room and my urgent ency turn to apprehension as I stumbled towards the bathroom.  One thought flashed just then.  I’m getting these feet fixed then there will be less pain when I overdo.  Good decision Momma Axsom!!!!

So today I’m waiting for the frost to clear off the windshield of the truck because I’m driving down to the garage to get wild bird seed for the feeders, jam, and mailing boxes so I can continue on with my project.  Hope all goes well with your day.

Ain’t Nothing Like…..

…Lying on your back in the sunshine when it is cold outside and the temperature in the room isn’t exactly to your liking.  That is the problem with a room with the ceiling 22 feet from the floor.  But a flannel shirt or a sweater usually cures the problem for the humans here and a spot in the sunshine or curled up on Momma’s bed takes care of the furies!

Well the visit to the eye Doctor is taken care of and that leaves only Jay’s post op. visit to Webb to go.  His arm is still working well and both hands are warm now .He seems to be gaining some stamina and he is going to need it soon.

My Mr. Flurry project is coming along with two large and four small ones done except for one scarf.  I am about ready to send them out.

A glance outside at 11 pm, 2 am, and 7 am, told the story of warm and cold coming together.  There was a heavy fog ( or mist) all night long and it is still there this morning.  Brandy had both Jay and I up at different times of the night to go outside so we witness it first hand.  Sure do love crawling out a nice warm bed to watch my dog pee in the wet grass.  But hey pretty soon it will be to pee in the snow so this is a little better.  In fact I think one legged people don’t go out in the middle of the night so it will be real nice for me.

I am trying to get some jam packed and out before I go in for the surgery but I have to think about paying the postman too so we will see how it goes.  ( It seems I always say we and believe me I don’t have a mouse in my pocket so I don’t know why.)

I took a moment out on November eighth to remember my children’s father who past away 35 years ago. Many things have happened since then and most of them have been very good.  I am fortunate to have a good husband, all my children alive and well, and grandchildren growing up to be beautiful people.  You really can’t ask for more out of life.

Yesterday a trip to Sam’s Club and VG’s took care of some needed staples to carry us through the next couple of months.  With Jay not driving and me not knowing how my driving ability is going to be I don’t want to be asking people to go to the store for me unless it is absolutely necessary.  Although I have neighbors that would gladly help and children that will drive 80 some miles round trip to help also I want to keep that at a minimum.

Reading Grammie Pammie’s blog I see she is still knitting squares so I’m going to have to give her a hand soon.  I think I’m going to have plenty to keep me off the street very soon.

Remember the lungs and the laughter!

Doubling Up!!

It is November and the sky sure shows it.  Snow was falling in big fluffy flakes this morning while I was out.  It didn’t accumulate of course but it did prompt thoughts of what was to come.

I started this morning at 6:30 am because I had two places to go in Clio, MI.  First I left Brandy at the Doggy Depot for a cleanup!

She looked like she could hardly see where she was going and the eyes were running again.

When I picked her up this was the results.  Haircut, face shave, teeth brushed, claws trimmed and a bath

She sure am purtee now!!!

The second stop was at the Chevy dealer for a much needed oil change.  Which got a little fatter in the bill when the fuel filter was changed also. But at least this is ready for the coming event.  So two items were eliminated with one trip.  If you have to travel 13 miles one way and gas is now $3.15 a gallon it pays to double up on the stops.

Well we have to go into Millington to vote on a school issue this afternoon and a stop by the market for a couple items.  Yep doubling up again.

When we get back I have five scarves and hats to make for the snowmen I have knitted.  Four of them are half size and I’m interested in seeing how they turn out.
Such is life in the Dome, in the Fall, in good old Michigan!!!

November Already!

S*** I had it typed and lost it!!!!!!
So briefly Jay’s surgery went very well—no need for pain pills.  I’m ok for surgery after the exam yesterday and now I’m going to go pout because I lost my post!!!!
