The Golden Years Suck!

Still Breathing!

Yesterday was spent at the hospital with Jay for work on his fistula. Leaving home at 9:20am and arriving back around 7:00pm we spent a long day.  I had taken my novel by Patricia Cornwell with me so I made great dent in the Book Of The Dead and finished it this morning.  I am still a little worn out today and finding it hard to accomplish anything.  I did however get Brandy to Doggy Depot for a haircut.  Jay got his cut on Tuesday so that leaves only me looking like the wicked witch of the west.  With Shawn out of commission with a broken leg I’m in no hurry to get mine cut.

It has been a little on the chilly side these last few days so I haven’t accomplished much in the yard.  Maybe it will warm up again soon.  Well I have a supper to figure out so I’ll leave you for today.  I just wanted you to know we were still breathing and kicking but not too high.

We are just heading into a longer weekend being a Bank Holiday here on Monday, and as the weather is still showery on and off, although sun warm when it is out, a few of us women are wondering how to pass the weekend.  I bought a DVD called Safe Harbour by Danielle Steele for coming Monday, but because we had a rain drenched day Wednesday past, I watched this that afternoon now have none for Bank Holiday Monday!  (A lovely film about a woman finding a new life after being widowed, and living alone with her early teens daughter.)  May go walk the promenade of our city of Portsmouth seafront on Sunday with a friend Mary, who has asked can we go out whilst her husband listens avidly to a football match on the radio most the afternoon!!  All depends on the weather doesn’t it!

Younger son owns an old traction engine Victoria and soon she must wake up in fact next Saturday 10th May for a Infant School May Day fete to be held here in our village, her first outing for this summer!  She pulls a living wagon behind too, like a gypsy caravan, in which my son and his family sleep if they stay over at an event.  Recently all rewooded along each long side and re painted dark traditional green by son and his friend Kev who helps run her.  In July son and wife hold their own Steam Weekend in the grounds of an old Pub here – it went well last yr so they hope for another successful time this yr too!
Several other engines turn out too, plus Classic cars and motor bikes, and ex army vehicles making quite a show.  Fingers crossed for a dry weekend for this too.  Our singer Daniel O’Donnell is beginning his US Tour up in Canada May 8th. before dropping town by town downwards and on to Las Vegas plus many more as I mentioned before.

    Keep well.  Marion
