More Wild Things——

————-but no camera for some of them!

Let’s start with a confession.  That beautiful cake you saw in the last post was from a past birthday.  I hadn’t made Jay’s cake yet.  The one I did finally make looked like crap but tasted real good.

The goings on today included a visit from a very surprised Doe who popped through the trees onto our driveway and then bolted back the way she came.  Next a squirrel climbed down from the Catalpa tree in the front yard and took off for the road.

This tree was in the way of three larger trees that we finally had cut down.  So now it is just starting to grow limbs on the side that was hampered by the larger trees that were near it.

Our other visitor was a chipmunk that came out of the woods, ran across the yard between the Crab Apple tree and the Quince bush into the back driveway.

But our wildest visitors were son, Les, and daughter-in-law, Anne, who came to see the birthday boy.

As is his custom Les checked Jay’s computer. Then he really believed my brain damaged story and installed my Printshop 23 program for me.  (Thank you Son).

After a lunch and some conversation he and Anne left for home and Jay and I are ready for a short siesta.

See you later!

  1. Leftover from last year’s Birthday cake photo? Hey, still looked great to me AND the absolute BEST birthday cake I’ve ever eaten was made by my aunt when I was around 8 or 9 yrs. old. I got up that morning and she was in the kitchen in tears. It seems she had got up early just to make me this really fancy birthday cake and when she took it out of the oven it fell! She was devastated! I remember going over and sticking my fingers in the middle of that cake-the outside was totally cooked, the insides were like chocolate pudding…it was really REALLY tasty! Let’s just say, I ate more than I should have and she was really happy. Never cry over ‘ugly’ cakes…just try them…they’re great!!!

  2. Ugly cake that taste great beats pretty ones that taste like ass.  And don’t forget it is the thought that counts!!!
