Labor Day ‘09

Another 70 some degrees outside and a peek at the calendar reminded me that this was my father’s birthday.

Clement W. Waggoner was my mentor, my banker ( when there was more month than money), he was my auto mechanic, my house builder. my sounding board, my confidence builder,  and the person most important to me during most of my life.  He was my daddy and I miss him and still love him after almost 20 years since he died. He lived to be 75—just a year older than me.  There are times when I remember mistakes I had made but he never condemned me.  He never told me how foolish I was, how selfish I seemed but instead used each moment to help me see some good in everything I did.  I truly wish I could have been half the parent to my children that he was to his.

On the lighter side my grand daughter Jasmine, Wesley’s daughter, was up to visit me on Friday with her friend, Haley.

She had to show me her new car.  It is her first car so that makes it a new one.  She has a friend that lives not two miles from our house and another in Clio, Michigan so she said we will see more of her from now on.  This delights me no end and I’m going to be looking for her.

This morning Brandy and I walked down to the mailbox for the Sunday paper and stopped to rest in the swing on the way back up.  Suddenly this red pickup came up the driveway and my neighbor Phyllis’  husband, Steve, stepped out to say hello on his way to church.  He said he saw me enjoying the sunshine and thought it great that I was up and about.  I took the time to thank him again for taking Jay to Dr. Ross’ office on the day of my surgery.  It meant no delay in Jay’s follow up care.  Then later today Phyllis came over and planted the Mums from Silverfox and her hubby for me.  My neighbors are the best I could want.

A phone call this afternoon announced that two of Jay’s sisters, one from Iowa and one from Owosso will be up tomorrow to have lunch with us.  Jay plans on making mini cheese cakes tarts for dessert.

Well that pretty well covers our weekend and plans for the holiday hope yours goes as well.

Wonderful World!

GOOD MORNING!  Yes it is me!  A little hesitate about what goes in the tummy but I have decided that if I don’t throw it up it is OK.  I came to this conclusion after reading four different diets in which contradict each other on what I can have.  The pain is null so far this morning and I have managed to fold and put away clothes from the dryer. I also emptied the the dishwasher and started loading the clothes washer.  I think I’m going to try some instant oatmeal and grab my little gallon bucket just in case.  Oh what a wonderful world we live in.

It is 10:54am—The doorbell just rang and a young man just handed me these.

An armload of bronze colored mums from Bob and Maria in Ridgecrest, California.  You know her better as Silverfox Whispers.  What a sweet gesture Dear Friends—Thank you so very much.

Almost ready!

A lovely 78 degrees, little breeze, and lots of sunshine out there today.

After a month of sitting across from Jay I finally figured out where I had seen that image before.

Yes indeed the tree man in our front yard does share a small likeness with him doesn’t he?

Well my lists of things to do are all but complete with exception of the utility room to mop and checks for the month to written out and ready to mail.  That I plan on doing after supper. ( I must confess I didn’t weed whack.) To celebrate my accomplishments I treated myself to these.

I do love flowers and $11.99 was not too much to spend to celebrate my achievements.

I’m waiting for a call from the hospital with my surgery time tomorrow.  I kinda hope it is early so I don’t mull over everything all morning.  If all goes well I’ll be home tomorrow evening all sore and grumpy but glad it is done.  I’ll be around to see you in a day or two.  Till then take care and remember to laugh big—you know why!!!!
