10 Snowy Degrees!

The crab apple tree feeding station!

Yes the snow and shivers are back.  There ain’t nothing like wading the white stuff, in down jacket and gloves, to fill the outside feeders for my feathered friends.  There is evidence of some furry creature trying to feast also.  My last sack of seed contained no corn but I think I’ll have  to go back to my old brand so I can add a bit of nutrition for the four footed visitors.

Today is Jay’s three month appointment with Dr. Hukill so we will be headed into Davison this afternoon.  I updated his blood sugar/pressure report yesterday for the Dr.  so that will be turned in also.

A stop at VG’s for cat food for Molly,  treats for both she and Brandy, and some soup for the pantry.  Then it is on to Jay’s favorite store, Davison Bacon and Sausage Co.. for more bacon.

Tomorrow I will check my finances and possibly get over to Clio to Dotty’s Feed store for thistle for Finches, Chickadees. and other small birds that visit the feeder.  I also need small hook bill seed for Chips and Tiki.  It sound like a lot of expense but the pleasure derived from all these creatures are worth the money.

Still working on Santa sock #1, devouring a few more pages in Twisted River, and searching for a Spring that has quite a while to wait before coming to us.

Stay warm, healthy, and happy—winter can’t last forever!

About Momma

I was 77-years-old on February 22 and I'm amazed to see it. Mother of two sons and one daughter (Bloggers SEB and Cindyisms are two of them). Grandmother of three. Retired after 29 years+ at Michigan Bell Telephone and ten+ years with The Oakland Press. I was active with the telephone company union and a Dale Carnegie graduate. I work at crocheting, knitting, making ornaments, and other projects. With my husband I can 300 or 400 half pints of jam, chutney, plus cabbage relish, pickled beets and cinnamon fruit every summer to give away. I was clown doing parades, parties, and picnics for about 15 years. My other passions are music from the 50s through the 70s, reading, and of course blogging!

  1. Don’t know where the time has flown, but I realized I haven’t dropped in to say hello for awhle so I have been reading your last three or four posts. I am sorry your warm spell is over and glad that our cold and rainy weather has passed.

I loved the photos of Molly and Brandy. I am so glad you are feeding all those little outdorr birds. This as to be a terrible time for them – all that cold snowy weather.

  2. I have a can of store brand almonds. Every once in awhile, I toss a handful out onto the snow just outside the window beside my chair here. Watching squirrels dive in for the feast is such nice entertainment.
