It’s Easter Weekend!
Indeed the day before Easter and the wind and rain wash our spot on the earth clean today. But all has settled for this evening so I have a couple of things to share with you.
First Cindy and David joined us for dinner.
They both used the computers for a while and after dinner of ham, candied sweet potatoes, roasted asparagus, mashed white potatoes, and for dessert carrot cake we played pinochle. The game was interrupted when all the sugar hit Cindy.
The basket went home with them for consuming later.
While they were here I received a delivery.
This was from Michael and Darlene. A beautiful surprise to end my day. Thank so much!
Monday I have some picture of the flowers coming up under the bedroom window.
Tomorrow Les and Anne will be up so I’ll close for now. Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Fixing Things
Yes my walk yesterday was fruitful.
The first of two sightings of daffodils in one of the extension gardens.
Also the reddish leaves herald the first rhubarb plant to make an appearance. I’m still searching for signs of the other two plants because we are going to need them to make jam and chutney this summer.
Yesterday Dr. Ross said Jay’s left eye was doing better but that a problem has developed in the right one ( which is the one he has sight in). So now it is a regiment of drops for both eyes until his next appointment in May. I created a chart that indicates what drop goes in which eye and how many times a day to help keep up with the treatment. Bless old Microsoft Office Excel it is my reminder. I used to post the kid’s pictures on the fridge now it is charts!!
The weather is still gorgeous and Brandy wants to be out in it all the time. But not having a fenced in area for her to run in and the woods nearby being so fascinating to her I have to fasten her to something immovable like the wishing well or the pickup when I leave her out there. Otherwise I have to be with her to mind the leash. But we swing every day, walk down and back from the mailbox, and take a turn around the dome looking for new blooms.
Hopefully this weekend we will receive the new retractable screen doors for the french doors and get them installed. We have someone coming over on Monday to see about replacing the dry wall in the garage ceiling and caulking the opening in the outside wall where the bees were getting in. Soon the table, chairs, and umbrella will be set up on the deck and this Momma will be reading and sunning out there. It plans to be the highlight of my summer after being hampered by the bees for over two years.
I passed the time at the Dr. Ross’ office yesterday reading Richard Dawkins’ The Greatest Show On Earth, struggling to understand parts of it and knowing that I probably won’t retain much of it when I’m done. But by golly it is not because I’m not trying. Consequently the 12 by 12 squares were set aside until last night. I have four and a half done of the 12 I promised.
Today is pay bills day, decide on tomorrow’s menu because Cindy and David will be up for a visit, and plan for a visit from Les and Anne on Sunday.
I’m also going to take down my cordless venetian blind on my left hand french door in preparation of sending it back to the company for repairs–Yes we are going to get that fixed too. After seven years the strings have let go on it and I need to fix it because I don’t think I can match it to the blind on the right hand door otherwise.
So enjoy your weather because I sure am enjoying mine although the peepers were singing last night for the first time and I heard somewhere that we will have another session of cold before the warm comes back to stay. I’m sure hoping that is wrong!
Help
I stood there in shock and amazement! Shock because my closest companion, my dearest friend, had just refused to help me with a great dilemma. Amazement because I had actually heard her voice for the first time in over four years.
“What do you mean you won’t finish this project for me. You don’t have anything else to do!” I said.
“You always assume that I have nothing to do, Momma,” she said. “Well you are wrong as usual” She continued with, ” I didn’t choose to live with you to come at your beck and call”.
“That is cruel” I replied. “I ask so little of you and you know of my delicate condition. I spent the night searching for the right shoes for the little one with no help from anyone”.
” If you hadn’t spent another night searching , so long ago, there wouldn’t be a little one”, she reminded me in terse tones.
“That was more cruel than your other remark. You have no right to speak to me that way”, I cried.
“Save the tears Momma because I won’t finish your stupid purple blanket for you and I’m not going shopping for any thing the little one needs,” she announced with a superior tone that I have never heard before.
“Brandy how could you turn your back on me when I need you,” I said in disbelief.
“It is easy,” she replied as she trotted off to her pillow on the floor.
Then I awoke!
You know my friend what day this is!
