Tomorrow I get my hearing aids.  The call came in this afternoon and I’m really excited. It will be a new world for me.  No more responding with HUH every time someone speaks to me.  I have hesitated spending the money but I finally decided I needed the contact with the people around me not the feeling that I’m alone all the time.

Did a bit more decorating the last day or two.

The living room window.  The sham rock  lights up.

The right sid3e of the dining room window

The  left side. Both strings light up.

Spent some time outside today.

I brought out the pad for the swing. Brandy decided that is what it needed and sat in it with me.

Up until I added the pad she wouldn’t sit in it.  Funny how animals get used to something and know when it is wrong.

I don’t remember If I told you that next Monday my sewing machine should be fixed and I can get back to my geese dresses.  I bought some jigsaw puzzles to do in the meantime.  As you probably have figured out I can’t sit and do nothing.  Sometimes the mind seems to continually click and I can’t just shut it down.

I have bought some things to use to decorate Easter next.  I have them on the shelving in the back room.  It was one of those I had a coupon for a discount on the total price of the purchase.  Got to stop this s*** pretty soon I guess.

Well the sunshine is great but the wind is a little chilly so I can’t stay outside too long besides it is time to start supper so I’ll close for now.  Have a good rest of the week –I know I’m going to!

Singing Tomorrow

Yep that song is running through my head because tomorrow I hope to hear that my hearing aids are in, my sewing machine goes in to be fixed, and hopefully I’ll get Brandy in for a haircut and a bath.  This has  not been the best weekend I have ever had but I’m alive and kicking ( just not too high).

We have a few more decorations up in the house.

This hangs in the archway between the living room and the dining area.

I have tried two or three times to turn it the right way but with no success.  I just don’t hold my mouth right I guess.  Maybe Les will see it and fix it for me.

Outside is this.

This is outside the porch door.

Cindy put this on the freezer door.

I got the front, living window decorated but I’ll wait until daylight to get a picture of it.

This is a picture of my birthday nails.

Sparkles but I’ll chane them this week.

Need to get back to something a little more normal.

If all goes right, my sewing machine gets fixed, I can get the goose dresses made in a couple of days.  Today I did my chores, sat out on the swing for a while but had to come in because the wind was too cold.  Pretty soon though I will be enjoying my swing, with Brandy, watching for the birds to come to the feeder. and reading.  I miss this little interlude greatly.

As soon as I get these extra things out of the way I want to visit Pam’s  knit and crochet meeting.  It is a chance to get out and visit with old friends again.

Cindy worked until 6 am this morning, came home rested a while then beat me at rummy again.  I have to learn not to pick up the discard pile for a measly little 15 points!

Well I haven’t check the weather for tomorrow but I hope it will be fairly clear.

I’m going to close for tonight, do a couple of Fill It In puzzles then hit the tick!

Enjoy the coming week–March is just around the corner!

Some times things don’t workout the way you want them to.  I went to JoAnn’s for a sale today.  These were some of the things I bought.

This is for the goose dresses for St. Patrick’s day.

Next I picked out this for Easter dresses

For the gooses of course.

Last for 4th of jJuly

I had them all covered

But when I set out the sewing machine it would mess up the bobbin area and the thread would be a mess on the inside, the cloth would jam up under the needle and the foot, and I had David help me get everything loose only to jam it up again.  We decided that It has to go into the shop and be fixed.  The dresses will have to wait I’m afraid.

Cindy started setting up the wearing of the green in the house.

She did the bathroom after she got off work last night.

Next came the flowers.

These will go in the inside kitchen window.

There is more to come but not tonight.

Lesley called Friday night to say they will be up on Sunday so that  is tomorrow.

I just the last of my birthday cake out of the fridge and devoured it.

The picture of the decor in the archway is still working on coming through so I guess it will have to wait.

I tried hand sewing the the project I was working on but my poor old hands said no way.  That is why the the blog title is failure.  D** I guess I’ll give up for tonight.

The Trip For Taxes

Well David, Libby, and I went to Otisville today to get my taxes done.   I gave them two jars of jam.  It was a refund so I’m happy.  From there we went up to Millington to McPherson’s and pick up a couple of Cinnamon rolls.  ( Hey  Darlene how about that I know you and Michael love them.)  On way back through we stopped at McDaniel’s Farm market to leave them some jam.  The owner  asked if I ever had Goose eggs.  I said only the kind you get when you hit your head on something.  He said I was in for a treat and handed me this.

So now I have two goose eggs.

I love it when we trade!

From there we went to my old neighbor’s house and left 2 jars of jam near the garage door.  Then we stopped at the dollar store in Otisville and found this.

$2.12 and our kitchen counter tree is ready for St. Patrick’s day.

I took the Birthday flag down today and put this up instead.

When March rolls around I’ll put the pretty one up.

Our trip home from Otisville was good but Libby was happy to be back in her own yard.  She and David are resting right now, Cindy is working, and I took this time to clean the living window, go through some greeting cards throwing some old ones that I had no envelopes for, and feasting on part of my birthday cake.

Wes called last night and wished me a Happy Birthday.  He is going to make dinner for me some time in the next few weeks.  This is a treat for me because he sure can cook some tasty things.

Lesley and Ann will be up tomorrow for a visit and I*’m looking forward to that.

I got a call from Sterling yesterday and the hearing aids still aren’t in but he is checking on them.

I want to thank everyone for the great wishes for my birthday–I appreciate it a lot.

Now I think I’ll go join Brandy for a short nap before we continue to the next project.

Take care And I’ll catch you later

Today Is The Day

Yep I made it 83 long (sad & happy) years.  But I’m glad to say more happy than sad.  Yesterday I check the Lilacs at the gate.

There are buds on both plants a sign of Spring to come.

Hey that is the kind of birthday present that is great to have.

I’m sitting here visiting with you because the zoo has been fed, I have music on the Bose that has my feet tapping, and life is good.  Cindy is working, David & Libby just got up, and Brandy is still tucked in bed.

My flag is hanging outside for now.

Tomorrow I will change to the green hat and shamrocks.  The first of March I will put up the St Patrick’s flag.  The decor for March goes up and Valentine gets packed away.

Cindy got my cake yesterday because she had to work today.

We have been working on eating it yesterday and this morning.  Hey it is my birthday and I can eat it if I want to.

I was a real beauty as a child.

My left hand is on my knee because I scratched it before the picture and was hiding from the shot.

This was yesterday when I was out to breakfast with Cindy.

She spent all day yesterday getting things done to make it a happy pre birthday for me.  Things like get a new handicapped card for when I’m riding with her.  She took me to the foot doctor’s appointment. We shopped for our breaded shrimp dinner ( which she  cooked).  It was a full and delightful time for me.

I have a trip to the drugstore today because I want to use my birthday coupon.  David said he take me.

Tomorrow it is up to Otisville to the tax man.  ( David will take me again).

Well I’m dressed all in red because it makes me smile and people will see me coming!  Take care I’ll see you later.

Hey I’m Creative!

Yesterday I finished making the arms for Lucy’s new dresses.  This was a pain in the butt, turning them inside out. stuffing them, I needed 12 so it took most of two days to accomplish this.  Then I started Lucy’s first dress.

I’m pleased with how it turned out;

Now I have to work on a head cover to go with it. I have also started working on an idea for her second dress.  But I have appointments thru Friday so it may have to wait.

Well it is melting out side so it seems we have a break in the snow right now.

Have a great day.

Chugging Uphill!

Good morning.  I’m looking forward to the next few days.  The forecast says rain but the temperatures will range in the 30s from 10 am climbing to the high 40s at 8 pm.  It will be in the low 50s overnight.  I do love the sound of that my friend.

Well yesterday I finally got my Singer threaded and started sewing the arms for Lucy’s dresses.

I have 6 of the twelve I need.

I really didn’t want to do this because it involved turning the pieces inside out, then stuffing them with filling.  But at least I can sew them now.  (One step forward in the learning process.)

Yesterday I finished this.

The last of my 300 piece puzzles ,

I do love doing them and I will get more.  The only problem is where to store them after I do them.

I’m 3 days away from the old 83 mark and still on the right side of the grass.  There are times when I stop and think why am I doing this.  But I know why.  Because I can help those I live with when they can’t be here to do what needs to be done.  There ain’t nothing like knowing your needed to spark the old engine into action my friend,   If you are dealing with a senior give them  things to do, let them know you need them, that they are not get a problem you have to put up with.  That way they will feel better about living and you will get help you need not just an anchor to drag around.

I’m waiting for a word from Sterling that my hearing aids are in.  I think it will bring a smile to this wrinkled old face when I can hear what is being said and I don’t feel like being left out.

David is going to drive me up to Otisville on Friday to get my taxes done.  I can do it but I feel better with him to do it and I won’t worry about running over someone on the way.  We can stop at Arlene’s for lunch on the way home.

I have to get a card out to Kim, Courtney’s mom, because we share the same Birthday.

Well the zoo is fed except for Libby and Brandy.  I think a bowl of oatmeal is called for what I need so I’ll say good bye for today.

I’m Puzzled.

Well Les was just in to see why my pictures were not going to the blog.  Why we don’t know but it is working now.  I had pen and paper ready to write out instructions but there weren’t any.  That is what is so crazy about computers( they work then the don’t, then they do) and you didn’t do anything.

Well anyway I’m going to post now but not in any order.

Since I have been doing puzzles I bought this.
It beats the devil out of spreading pieces on a cookie sheet.  Separating straight edges in one tray, different colors in the others and the whole procedure goes a whole lot faster.

This turned into this over night

Started yesterday, left pieces in the trays, and finished this morning.

I needed to show you the mailbox today.

The plowing my neighbor did yesterday still looks good today.

No snow last night what a blessing.  I haven’t check the forecast for tomorrow yet I’ll do it later.

Learning time again. I need to get Lucy’s dresses made.

Pull out the manuel , start reading, working on it as I go.

Hey I can now put thread on the bobbins.  I started reading about how to thread the machine but stopped when Les and Anne came in to check out the computer.  It is 9:05 pm so I won’t get any farther on this tonight.  I’ll just leave it set up and read some more in the morning.  Life is such an adventure when there are things to learn and projects to accomplish.

With Cindy’s help I picked up Brandy’s eye drops today.  She worked on finding them yesterday for me.  It seemed they were on back order at Kroger’s but she found them at CVS.  Now I have both her pills and drops so she is set to go.  In fact I took her with me when I picked up her drops and she was happy to go for (what we call) a Bye bye ride.

Still waiting for my hearing  aids.  I will be one happy camper when they come in.

Well I have to do the entries on my calorie counter for the day then I’m done.  So I’ll say good night for now.  Please stay safe and warm.

A Love Day Right?

Happy Valentines day to all.  I started out with these.

But they were good.

So today this is it!

This is it for today.

The story behind this is that I had no rolling pin so I had to pat them out by hand.  That made them thicker taking longer to bake.  But today I bought the rolling pin so I’ll see if this makes a difference.  I may even go with drop cookies instead because we won’t need the hearts any more after today.   That is my next project.

I finished my puzzle this morning.

Rather than rolling it up last night I put a big towel over the whole thing,

When I got up this morning Lily was sitting on the towel but she had not knock any pieces on the floor.  (good Girl)

When I went out for the mail today there was a note saying that there would be no more deliveries until the snow was cleared to the curb.  Now I’m expecting medicine for Brandy so I had no choice but to try and clear the area.  The young man across the street came out to help me but when they plowed the street all the snow was pushed to the side of the road.  Now this was not only deep but icy too. Even with help I wasn’t able to make much progress when the gentleman that lives next to us pulled his truck with the plow on the front out and cleared both my area plus in front of the house next door.  (That was where the the youngster that was trying to help me lives.)  Bless both their hearts for the help.

Cindy took me out this morning so I could clear my list of things I wanted like ( the rolling pin, a puzzle piece sorter, some new oven gloves, another puzzle, a large light.  bulb for over the bath room mirror, and D batteries for the dining room flash light.  I should be all set for a few days.

Cindy was called into work to help with a situation right after we got back home so I don’t know how long she will be gone.  The zoo is quiet or sleeping and David is in the back room.

A couple of outdoor picture for you.

The moon was great through the trees.

I found this one kind of interesting

I guess I had better get on those cookies So if you live near by come and get some.   Otherwise stay warm and hope the sun that is shining melts things a little.
