Spreading Cheer!

I made a wreath last year for the front of our pickup to use in the lighted Christmas parade.  It was fake evergreens with wired in deep-red poinsettias and the same color velvet ribbon that matched the color of the truck.

Retiring from parading this year, I hung the wreath on the front of the truck anyway.  Yesterday, in the middle of a parking lot, a woman came up to tell me how lovely and festive it looked.  As I thanked her I thought I had spread another bit of cheer!!

A Treat --Meet Jay

You have heard me speak of my hubby.  It is now time he have a name (no, a nice one). It will be 30 years in July of 04 that we have been married.  I thought I had married a man but he turned out to be an encyclopedia who loves me.  You know his type--asked the time and he tells you how to build a watch.  He spouts little known pearls of wisdom like a fountain in a hotel lobby.

Example: This morning over a bowl of Raisin Danish Oatmeal he revealed that if the pepper grower has a good crop he places a wreath of red peppers on the front door.  That way visitors could take a pepper with them.

OK, what inspired that gem I asked.

His reply was that when you add hot water to the oatmeal you reconstitute the raisins. That means they were dried first for packaging in the oatmeal.  Which led to--the farmer dried his peppers to make them into a wreath.

Which led me to decide that Jay has way too much knowledge to have it wasted on me alone.  So hold on friends, you are going to learn how sirloin steak got its name, how to make a flan, and why every day is a new experience living with him.
