Gee Thanks Uncle Sam
The Labor Department seems to speak with a forked tongue. Out one side they are touting the $895 million that 1.3 million low-income workers would become eligible for under new rules expected to be finalized this year. The other side of this mouth is telling employers how to avoid paying overtime, by cutting hourly wages and adding overtime to equal the original salary or raising salaries to the new $22,100 dollar annual threshold making them ineligible. Their last paragraph says they’re merely listing well-known choices available to employers under the current law. Well aren’t they sweet to help screw low-income people out of something designed to help them and still have the gall to tell the public what a great thing they are doing!!
The capper was catching The W expounding about jobs and bringing people into the country to do them because Americans won’t do them. I confess I didn’t catch it all and I could be misinformed on this item, but this together with the news article makes this Senior wonder what happened to honesty in making a “living”.
