Sweet Thing and her better half showed up tonight for a short visit. We played simple rummy and she won!! She somtimes detects a tone of exasperation or frustration in my conversation so she takes the time to try to pick my sorry attitude out of the basement for a while.
When winter is here it seems we sit inside more, don’t drive to visit anyone and basically succumb to cabin fever. The eyesight problem makes time together harder to pass. Jay is unable to read, play games, or try new dishes in the kitchen. He can only hear TV so that makes following movie plots difficult. There are times when if I didn’t love him I’d walk out because I can’t seem to do anything right. I get upset and misspeak and he jumps right on it. Then I get more upset and angry, knowing full well that cures nothing.
So a deep breath is in order, composure is gained, and we smile at each other and try again.
Spring will come and we will be able to walk outside, swing in the swing, and enjoy the new beginning that the season brings. As long as we breathe things will pass and be renewed!
