Lose Me Again
A case of Vertigo the last three days has kept me a little under the weather but Dr. says it will work itself out. So if I’m a little vague you will know why.
Did get to the library today to return Neil Gaiman’s American God. A good read and it inspired me to bring home his’ Coraline to read next. So you may lose me for a few days --but I shall return.

Birthday Day
I tried getting a picture of SEB, Little Snit, and the the granddaughter to accompany this entry and ended up snarled up like a fish hook in a tree branch. So pictureless but with sincere thanks I present the following.
Little Snit came to the house on Sunday and prepared from scratch Chicken Noodle Soup, an excellent salad, and topped it off with “Red Lobster Cheese Biscuits”. The family also brought a flowering plant, a toy leopard, and a birthday cake. I had time to sit and talk with my son for a change and a wonderful time was had by all except maybe Little Snit who had the dishwasher to load!!! Thank you again Kids. It was like a time out without sitting in the corner!!!

Birthday Poem
Happy Birthday To Me
Happy Birthday To Me
I’m 69 wishing it was 33!
I’m tickled to death to see this day.
At 22 it seemed 100 years away.
But I finally made it, what can I say!!

Gene & Jeanie’s Surprise!
My brother and his better half picked us up at 3:45PM to go out to dinner, an early birthday event. They changed locations on us and we went to Lucky’s in Almont some 50 miles from home.
Jay had Pecan Crusted Walleye, I had Stuffed Salmon, and Gene and Jeanie had steak. An excellent meal. But the surprise came on the way home.
Jeanie’s four daughters, one son, and her grandkids had cake, ice cream, and gifts for me. Such a warm thing for these people to do because I had only met them when I clowned for Jeanie’s birthday party. Just gives you a little lump in the throat. Thank you guys!
Sorry I Was Reading
I last posted on Valentine day? Where the hell have I been? Deep in the world of Neil Gaiman’s “American Gods.” What an adventure that has been! 588 pages that at first seemed insurmountabe but flew by my eyes and fingers in record time.
A trip to the Dr.’s office yesterday confirmed the results of the scan . Little or no change in the condition of the lungs. In fact Dr. said if anything the condition has improved a tiny bit. Well my mom used to say I was as big as a horse so I guess being as healthy as one is the next step!
I am still in shock over being able to read most things without my glasses after having them perched on my nose everytime I picked something up to read. No I don’t have a sugar problem. We checked that last fall when I first noticed the change in my eyes. Believe me I’m not complaining—I’m delighted!
Tonight the blind guy I live with and I are off to dinner with my brother and his significant other. Four old farts on the loose!!! (in more ways than one)!
As my kids used to say I Love You (mommy) I’ll try to do better (and not leave you alone!)

My Pretty Valentines
Valentines come in all shapes and sizes! Some are red satin with white lace around the edges. Some are cardboard with cute animals on them.
But my favorite kind are the ones that are fat or thin, short or tall, young or old, bald or hairy, black, white, yellow, or brown. They are the people I meet and have met on this journey of mine.
I treasure them all, remembering many happy and some sad times when I think of them, but never regretting having crossed their paths.
Happy Valentines Day everyone!!

7 To 10
With retirement I have discovered that delightful time between 7 and 10 am. I wake up at 2:30 am and again at 7 am. My mind tells me if I get up at 7 I can wake Jay, do medications, cook breakfast, and still have time to get to Senior Swim at 10 am.
The mind tells me I am paying to swim, we need the exercise, and we will feel better if we get out and get moving.
But the little voice in the back of the reasoning mind says, “Remember the last couple of hours of sleep are the best.” So I take a quick run to the bathroom, check the kitchen window for the weather, see if Jay is still sleeping, and note that the furnace hasn’t kicked on for the daytime setting. That done it is back to that warm bed for that last couple hours of heaven!

Sunday In The Sun
Sunday was a day out with my brother and his fiancée. They pickeed up Jay and I at 10:15am and off to Frankenmuth we went for the Snow Festival and a chicken dinner.
My brother, Gene, like my husband cannot walk great distances so they kept each other company while Jeanie, his fiancée, and I walked through the shops and the ice and snow carving displays. When we returned to the guys they were amazed we hadn’t purchased a thing.
It was a great day with sunshine and very little wind so you didn’t mind being outside. It was a feeling of freedom from the everyday pressures.
The chicken dinner was family-style, tasty and the company was wonderful.

One Of Two Questions
AM asked if I were Judge and Jury how would I show the accused killer of the eleven year old the error of his ways?
A “good father” of three daughters who slays someone else’s child will never learn the error of his ways. Illegal or not he should be dragged away and beat to death, giving him the same plea bargain and appeal he gave Carlie.
In Detroit a couple of years ago a child was killed returning home from a friend’s house. In Oakland County years ago a child killer took the lives of several children.
Tell me who passed a law saying a child can’t walk in his/her neighborhood safely. The judge in a case concerning this man, before Carlie was killed, blamed a probation officer for letting this accused killer fall through the cracks.
This is not a big comfort people!! Who dropped the ball?
Sweet Thing
Yes my friends this is the infamous Sweet Thing. My youngest offspring that God sent me to remind me to act like a woman once in a while. Before she was born I wanted another son but two of my friends pray for a girl. As usual God listened to them not me. ( I think sometimes that He is pretty pissed with me. )
However after living almost 32 years with her I am convinced she is one of the best things to happen to me. She has become one of my closest friends, even if she is a girl!!
