Two years ago today at 11:30am my hubby and I smoked our last cigarette. Why? Because the cost too much money! I was tired of $30.+ every three days. I didn’t care about health I was just angry at our stupidly burning up money that could fix my house, put extra food in the pantry, even help pay for medicines that we needed.
We decided we would quit cold turkey because patches, pills, and gum could cost as much as the cigarettes. If we were going to it then it would be right then.
Now can I say I feel better? No but I will live a little longer. Yes I wanted a cigarette every time I poured a cup of coffee. Every time I picked up a phone to call someone. I would even dream I was smoking and be glad when I woke up that I hadn’t.
Finding out last October that I have Emphysema reaffirmed that I made the right decision--just not soon enough. I smoked for 48 years. I enjoyed it. Now I can only say if you smoke stop. Please try to give yourself a chance to live longer.
