Madame Social Butterfly

The ‘Social Calendar’ was in full swing again this week.  We saw Phil on Wednesday to talk about how Jay was feeling and how being able to see was helping. This is Phil by the way. Thursday it was Dr. Ross again to check on how the eye was healing.  Today it was a trip to Dr. Hukill’s office for a blood test that he will get the results on next week during our regular appointment.

I swear if it were not for Doctors we’d have no social life at all!

Be Careful In Rain!

On Wednesday Sweet Thing and Dave came up to pick up yard sale stuff and kick my butt playing cards again.  While they were here a flash thunderstorm and wind came up so Dave and I checked truck windows and took the flag down.

Just a few minutes later we heard sirens (several of them) but they didn’t go by the house.  We decided to check and found several vehicles out on the road in front of the house.  It seems someone came up over the hill east of our house, lost control of the car, and rolled off the road into a deep ditch on the other side of the road.
The ditch was so deep that we could only see the top of the car from across the street.

The Fire department, County and State police, EMS, and an ambulance were all at the scene. Our neighbor is a nurse and went to the scene to help out. I stayed up in the yard because there was nothing I could do but get in the way.  We watched as the firemen prepared to rip the roof off the car to get the driver out.  Then an ambulance took her to the hospital.

The next day we read in the paper it was a 34 year old woman in critical condition.  I have sat for two days wondering if she is getting better and why in the the world didn’t she slow down the minute the rain hit?

We keep forgetting the first bit of rain pulls the oil up on the surface of the road.  Hydroplanning is the results.  Even during the last two days when I start up from a light in the rain I hear the little chirp, feel the tires spin a little and I’m not even stepping down hard on the gas.

Please be careful in the rain so you be around tomorrow!
