What Summer?
Ok the totals are 17 pints of peaches, 41 pints of cabbage relish, and 2 pints of Maratha Steward’s Select cabbage relish (as an experiment) was the results of this week’s canning. There is a bushel of red haven peaches waiting in the basement to can cinnamon peaches on Monday. It looks like the quart size canner will have to be replaced this week in order to do wide mouth jars. The smaller canner doesn’t like wide mouth and that is the size pints I have on hand. The work is worth it when this winter comes around but the ankles are angry right now!
Well our lifestyle of late to bed and late getting up finally caught up with Courtney this morning. She told me she didn’t get to sleep until the wee hours of the morning and wanted to sleep a little longer. But mean old Gramma that I am I made her get up, shower, and have breakfast. I explained that school was just around the corner so we had to get her back on track.
The Evil One and Little Snit will be up tomorrow and stay until Sunday, then we will be a family of two + five pets again.
It is 62 degrees outside and even though it is August my fire bush is starting to turn red. I also see spots of yellow and red sneaking into the trees here and there. Man this summer seems to be tiptoeing out the back door way too early for me! Does anyone else feel like this year is set at 45 rpm not 78 rpm? Do you know who screwed with the controls??
