Now the Holidays Start!

As Fall begins to show it’s colorful entry I start pulling the Halloween paraphernalia out of the basement and into the light of day.  The orange and black sparkle ribbon with the pumpkins on it has been tied to the mailbox post.  The string of black plastic lights with fluorescent colored eyes hangs on the front of the house.  The old green skinned witch with a a crystal ball that is printed on a flag hangs outside the kitchen door.  A wooden cutout of a scarecrow and a witch hang next to that door.  Three lighted papier-mache pumpkins of assorted sizes sit on the lawn chairs on the porch to greet visitors.  A colorful wreath of red, orange. and yellow flowers hangs on the kitchen door with a suncatcher of a pumpkin peeking out through the center.  A white motion sensor ghost hangs on the edge of the porch to flash green, shake, and whistle at you in a spooky way!

Inside the ceramic pumpkin sits on the ledge in the bay window.  The two lighted plaster houses with all the things that make them haunted wait to be plugged in on the counter of the pass through from the kitchen.  Some Halloween suncatchers at the windows, some cardboard glow in the dark ghost hanging in kitchen, and a big black spider trick or treat basket on the computer desk in the living room complete the decorations.  This is why the decorations come out early in October.

I have finished Christmas project # 2 and have #3 to go.  This will take more time because knitting for me is a slow process being left handed and all!  But I have plenty of time so I won’t sweat it.  We will have to draw names for the adults in the family for Christmas soon so that we can get that gift getting under control. We might do that this coming weekend.

Thanksgiving is fast arriving and I believe that it is our turn to host the dinner.  I can promise that there will be no sugar-subsitute, no salt- free, and no low fat anything so those who have things they have to watch will be urged to moniter themselves!!  Momma ain’t holdin’ no hands on the Holidays!!
