October Blithering!
Sitting at the table a thought hit me. I just brought in from deck the two plants by the door in the living room. The first frost came this morning and they are safe inside. In the past I have forgot them and had bare stems for a couple of months before they pick up again. But the thing that hit me this morning was how long I have had these plants. The shorter one I got from my Mother’s house and she died in March of 1992. The taller one I can’t recall where it came from but I have had it just as long. Not unusual I guess but surprising to me.
Well yesterday I unloaded our upright freezer in the basemant and with Hubby’s help got it out through the garage onto the cement apron to thaw. This is a job I don’t look forward to but having bought a 2nd freezer for Sweet Thing’s use I had a place to keep the contents of the first one. This morning I hauled our freezer back in, switch contents back, and put the 2nd one out on the apron. It should be ready to come back in by nightfall. I am happy to say that it was a little lighter than the first one and I had no trouble getting it out by myself. All this thanks to a furniture dolly my brother gave me several years ago.
This month is pretty light on the Doctor’s appointments. I pulled myself off the Vioxx due to the report of stoke and heart problems and the recall last week. I see my Doctor on the 15th to discuss what else I might take. In the meantime I called him about Ibuprofen. Sometimes it gets scary taking prescriptions that are ‘safe’ but turn out not safe.
On the ligter side—I went down to the mud room last week to get something from the freezer and found that Molly had gotten into a box that held twine. She had twine all over the floor and leading into the center of the basement. I pick it up and shoved it into the plastic container, I put on the top without winding it back on the reel. Mistake! The next day it was pulled out again along with a few additional yards. I cut it off, turn the box with the reel upside down in the plastic container, and snapped the container lid securely on this time. Bringing the twine upstairs I placed on the utility room desk so I could try to rewind it. Later that afternoon I found the twine all over the utility room floor and half way into the kitchen. As I pick it up Molly was tugging on it. After three days of playing ‘put it back’ with Molly my hubby got tired of getting tangled up in it and threw it out. I don’t know who was more disappointed--Me or Molly!
Well the bathroom and kitchen rugs are out hanging in the sunshine on the deck railing. I know Jay doesn’t like me to do that but there is no one right behind us to see them and it keeps the rubber backing from getting all crummy. Now the kitchen and bathroom floors are calling my name! Also I have clean sheets to go on the bed. The carpets are starting to sneeze and my ‘I’m a good housekeeper’ self is feeling very guilty. So I guess I’ll shut up and get my butt in gear!!!
UPDATE:
6:17pm 1.Floors are mopped.
2.Rugs back in place
3. Freezer #2 defrosted, back in mudroom, and contents in.
4. Washing is done.
Left to be done is feed the birds, make my bed, cook supper, start the dishwasher and listen to the debate...I’m afraid the carpet will have to sneeze for one more day.! Have A Good Night!!!
