But tomorrow I will be! Yes at 3:00 am I will rise and help my ever-lovin’ get ready to go to the hospital. We have both been on pins and needles waiting for this. It is a chance to feel better and live longer for him. And as I told him I wasn’t living up here in the wilds of lower Michigan alone so he has to get better!! So say a little prayer or wish him good luck and we will be back loving, living, and laughing with you real soon!

From the composition book of Mabel Ribble, my grandmother, written in the year of 1901. As stated before I don’t know if she copied these or wrote them but I found them entertaining!
FALL FASHIONS
Said Mrs. Maple to her neighbor, “ Have you got a new fall gown? “
“Mr. Frost has lovely samples that he’s brought from Wintertown.”
“I thought I’d get a yellow with a woodbine sash of red.”
“Something bright for chilly weather and that’s stylish,” Jack Frost said.
It is funny how these things come into one’s posession and we put them away and forget . Then one day as you search for something else this little brown book falls out on the floor. At once you feel the wonder of a child long ago gathering thoughts to keep at her fingertips. How precious can this be?
