Pesky Squirrels!
There were three country churches in a small town: the Presbyterian church, the Methodist church and the Catholic church. Each church was overrun with pesky squirrels.
One day, the Presbyterian church called a meeting to decide what to do about the squirrels. After much prayer and consideration, they determined that the squirrels were predestined to be there and they shouldn’t interfere with God’s divine will.
The Methodist group got together and decided that they were not in a position to harm any of God’s creations. So they humanely trapped the squirrels and set them free a few miles outside of town. Twenty-four hours later the squirrels were back.
It was only the Catholics who were able to come up with the best and most effective solution. They baptized the squirrels and registered them as members of the parish. Now they only see them on Christmas and Easter.
I confess the picture is from one e-mail and the story from another. Man it is great to have friends!
What’s A Little Rain!
Wow when it rains it pours. Yesterday evening about 9:15 pm we lost electric power. There was a boom, the lights went out, there was a short burst of rings from the phones, and rain and wind was pelting the house. Just a few minutes before Jay had said that we should check the generator tomorrow.
After a half an hour we went down to the garage with flashlight in hand to start up the generator. As usual the battery was dead so Jay started the tractor and we jumped the generator after setting it outside on the apron of the garage. Of course this involves throwing the breaker on the main line, engaging the breaker for the generator, and going down stairs to set up the unit and turning on that switch.
Later when it became apparent that restoral that evening was out of the question --it was back down, disconnect everything, upstairs and turn on the main breaker again in case service was restored in the middle of the night.
No such luck so at around 8am today we set it all back up again so we could run the water, make coffee, and flush again.
At about 11:30am I went into town for more gas for the generator. Jay said I was gone 3 mins. and Consumers called to say they had restored the power in the area.
I sit here this evening and thank my lucky stars we had enough brains when we first moved here in 1999 to spend around $1400. to buy that generator.
In checking after the storm I may have lost the upstairs CPU. I know I have deleted five months of medical expenses accidentally and will be busy finding my last printing of it and reinstalling it all from the checkbook, calendar, and receipts but I didn’t back it up so I’ll learn.
It is raining again this evening so my little trees will have plenty of water this week. But I had hopes of picking strawberries for jam and strawberry/rhubarb jam on the 15th but we were told that rain might mess up the start of picking. We will call and see when the canning can begin again.
