Granddaughters!
Courtney on the right , Jasmine is on the left, and Grandpa Jay at the stove. They are taking the time to study the recipe for tonight’s supper.
The girls are assigned the job of shredding the chicken for the Enchiladas.
Chef Grandpa checks the progress of our chicken shredders! ( Is that like chicken pluckers--no never mind!).
The Enchiladas are ready for the oven and I can’t hardly wait to taste them!
The girls get the Apple Flautas ready for the oven. They are this evenings dessert.
I sure do love having granddaughters in the house they make life a joy!
Yard Worker!
Courtney just joined us as we were working on the brush pile out by the shed. Jay had the shredder going and the girls were gathering branches to pile near the machine.
I tried my hand at cutting the branches a little smaller and readying them for the shredder.
We decided to stop until evening when it is a little cooler.
With all this help we should have that mess cleaned up shortly!

Fire Engines!
Phone calls this morning resulted in a change of plans today. No raspberries to pick right now so we are not making jam today. Instead it was off to Frankenmuth, Mi. to Heritage Park for the Great Lakes International Antique Fire Apparatus Association’s fire engine muster. Antique fire engines lined the Cass River demonstrating their pumping ability
Jazz walked the grounds looking over all the different models and years!
Jay took time to explain the different attributes of the different engines. It gave us a little more understanding about the displays.
An enjoyable afternoon doing something we don’t normally do.
Jam Making Time With Jazz!
On Thursday we took a ride down into Oakland County to turn in a copy of the property tax and return some dishes to Wes and Deb’s house. While there we decided to bring Granddaughter Jasmine back home with us. She will be with us through Tuesday. She has an Orthodonist appointment early Wednesday morning.
Yesterday Grandpa let her mow with the tractor. I was out with the regular lawn mower cutting around things. Jay was in the garage working on the tater/onion boxes.
There was some time spent last night with the new knitter trying to get a baby blanket started. She picks it up every free moment she gets. It is for her Grand-Neice.
Sunday Courtney the other Granddaughter will join us and stay for about a week. It will give cousins time to catch up on things before they both return to school.
Today we have tentivly planned to pick raspberrries. If so it will be Jam making time with Jazz.

MOMENTS IN LIFE
There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real!
When the door of happiness closes, another opens; but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don’t see the one, which has been opened for us.
Don’t go for looks; they can deceive. Don’t go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.
Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.
The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can’t go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you’re the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.
Please send this message to those people who mean something to you (I JUST DID); to those who have touched your life in one way or another; to those who make you smile when you really need it; to those who make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down; to those whose friendship you appreciate; to those who are so meaningful in your life.
Don’t count the years-count the memories...........
Thanks for sharing Edna!
Like An Old Chevy!
On Tuesday it was start fixing Momma day. I had put off a few things while Hubby was on the mend but now it was time.
The day started with a trip to Dr. Hukill, our personal Physician’s office for blood test for cholesterol and liver.
From there it was Sears to order the glasses Dr. Rohr had prescribed.
Then to Dr. Robbins office to check on my right ear. I had a non-malignant growth removed from the mastoid cavity about three years ago and surgery to replace part of the damaged bones. I had no hearing in this ear recently and was afraid the growth had returned causing deafness. But a few minutes with doctor cleaning and checking reassured me it was just a wax buildup and the hearing has returned.
The glaucoma treatment is scheduled for August 1st and 8th. Then other than what Dr. Hukill has to tell me I am in good shape for the shape I’m in!
I’m like an Old Chevy--I need a tune up once in a while!!
Update: A call this afternoon (Thursday) said the blood was excellent!
Potato And Onion Boxes!
The work has started again on the infamous Potato & Onion boxes. We purchased the plans in 2000. In 2002 Jay built one for us. He bought and cut out the wood for four more at that time. Then he went blind. The next three years brought some sight and loss of it a few times. But it also brought a failure in stamina. The by-pass surgery in April this year has done wonders for him.
Once in a while he calls me to the garage to lend a hand.
I get to use the sander when construction is complete. Then it is off to the hardware to buy Min-Wax stain and finishing ( what ever you call it ).
But when you haven’t work like this in a while sometimes you need a ‘sit down’ near the end of the day.
It does my heart good to see him up to doing projects again!

Moms
Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you’ve had a baby ..........
Somebody doesn’t know that once you’re a mother, “Normal,” is history.
Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct ...
Somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.
Somebody said being a mother is boring ......
Somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver’s permit.
Somebody said if you’re a “good” mother, your child will “turn out good.”
Somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee.
Somebody said “good” mothers never raise their voices .....
Somebody never came out the back door just in time to see her child hit a golf ball through the neighbor’s kitchen window.
Somebody said you don’t need an education to be a mother.
Somebody never helped a fourth grader with her math.
Somebody said you can’t love the fifth child as much as you love the first.
Somebody doesn’t have five children.
Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her child-rearing questions in the books .......
Somebody never had a child stuff beans up his nose or in his ears.
Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery ....
Somebody never watched her “baby” get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten.
Somebody said a mother can do her job with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back ......
Somebody never organized four giggling Brownies to sell cookies.
Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married ....
Somebody doesn’t know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother’s heartstrings.
Somebody said a mother’s job is done when her last child leaves home ....
Somebody never had grandchildren.
Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don’t need to tell her
....... Somebody isn’t a mother.
Pass this along to all the “mothers” in your life.
Thank you Edna. This somebody says that alot of Moms are going to enjoy this!

A Gift From Hubby For 31 Years!
My Anniversary present from Hubby came today. He had asked what I wanted for a gift and I told him a puppy or a three stone diamond ring. Well when I opened it it wasn’t either but it was the next best thing. White gold earrings with two tiny diamonds set in each one. Thank you Jay--Love you.

Four Things I Found
Four things came to mind the other day when I stopped feeling sorry for myself and decided to adjust my attitude.
The first was a plaque that appeared on Silver Fox Whispers blog. I copied it and posted an 8 by 10 inch copy of it by the mirror in my bathroom.
The second item came from My Moms Blog. An Entry entitled My Favorite Quote.
My favorite quote happens to be one that I learned from my mother.
“IF YOU DON’T GO OUT, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN”
Think about that! For sure if you stay home, nothing will happen.
On the other hand if you do go out, anything is possible.
The third thing was that several years ago I learn a sign ( 5X ) that meant to try 5 times harder to accomplish you given task or goal. This was taught in a Dale Carnegie course that I was fortunate enough to attend.
The last item was that I realized that I have changed how I post. I don’t write like I think for fear I will offend someone. I have lost who Momma really is and I’m unhappy with that. So you may find me a little offensive once in a while but I’m not doing it to hurt you. I’m doing it to help me. I hope you will still drop by and if I hit a nerve let me know so I won’t feel like’ I’m on the stage playing to an empty house.’
