Ain’t Nothin’ Like A Pot Luck Picnic!
The Picnic was held at Baycourt Park in Clarkston, Michigan. The view from the dining room was lovely. The day was warm enough to go without a sweater and the sun shine put a smile over the festivities.
When telephone people get together you can be sure of two things--good conversation and great food. The tables were full of fried chicken, ribs, salads, cheesy potatoes, and fresh fruit. The were cakes, cookies, and a large dessert bowl with white cake, strawberries, whipped cream and all the calories were sucked out before you ate it. Well that is what they said. Of course some specialty dishes also graced the table.
People you have worked with for years some times challenge the memory when you go your separate ways!
Edwina,my friend in Management with me was there with Hubby, Walter and two of her grandkids
Conversations abound.
A lot of catching up to be done!
Of course when old phone men talk it take great attention because it is very important!
But visiting with each other was great.
As our afternoon drew to a close we all said we would try to meet again for The Fourth Annual Pontiac Service Evaluation Picnic!
Preping For The Picnic!
Today was our Third Annual Pontiac Service Evaluations Systems (SES) picnic. This office was part of the phone company and closed roughly 20 years ago so getting friends and co-workers together is a fun occasion.
Jay and I had decided this year we would bake scones and take our jam.
So last night Jay set to work on the scones.
The plan was to get them ready then place them in the fridge overnight. Here we have applied the egg wash and sugar and they are ready for the fridge.
This morning it was into the oven just a couple of hours before we had to leave so they could cool and be packed.
Then the six kinds of jam were placed in a serving dish with each labeled as to what kind, where the fruit was bought, And of course our names!
So into the truck and off to the pot luck picnic.
