It Is Back!!!
10:30 am a call from Simms Chevy --our truck was ready. We sat open mouthed for a few minutes trying to digest the message. You never get a repair done that quickly. There is always some little something to hold it up. Nope she was ready --come and get it. A quick call the the credit union to arrange the payment then into the ‘clown car’ and off to Clio we go. Now I’m not saying that the rental wasn’t a good vehicle it is just that I’m not used to sitting so low to the ground with my feet stuck out in front of me. I have had girdles that fit loser than that. But all is well now and even if we are a little poorer we sure are happier!
Right now Jay is out giving the yard probably it’s last haircut for this year.
Yep it is a little chilly out there today. I think our Indian summer has about ended for this year!
Sucha Day!
It started out so routinely---an appointment at 1:45p with Dr. Ross in Grand Blanc, then a trip to Michael’s and Sam’s Club in Flint township, and home. This is how we plan all our day trips since we moved ‘up North ‘ as the kids say.
The appointment brought a good report on Jay’s eyes so it was on to Michael’s. I had a picture frame to exchange and I purchased an 8"x 10” glass to replace one that had broken several weeks ago while I was there.
We stopped for a bite to eat before going on to Sam’s and that’s when it started to turn into ‘stressville’! Leaving the parking lot I turned the steering wheel to hard. It hit the stopping point and the power steering motor quit. Oh shit --no power steering-- brakes went haywire---and the battery warning light came on. I managed to get on a service drive, then into Sam’s side lot. A check under the hood showed the serpentine belt was laying across the motor.
It was now a little after 4:14p I needed to set up a tow to our dealership in Clio and arrange a rental car. With Jay’s eyes still dilated I dialed numbers and he spoke to the necessary people. A tow truck was on the way thanks to Farmer’s Insurance. In the meantime a gentleman walked out from the garage area and volunteered to try and put the belt back on. We didn’t call the rental place right away because he did get it on. But when I tried to drive it the steering and brakes were still bad. So we called Enterprise for a rental.
Now both Simms Chevrolet service and Enterprise Rental closes at 6:00p and it is now after 5. The rental people picked me up to go to their office to make arrangements while Jay waited with the truck for the tow truck to arrive.
While at the office I was told to take a chair at this desk. Still in a state of confusion I sat down then discovered that the chair hadn’t been pulled out all the way from the side of the desk. The result was an unceremonious spill to the floor and an abrasion on my elbow from it rubbing down a textured wall. No I wasn’t drunk just silly ass clumsy.
I got the car, went back to Sam’s, and found the tow truck had all ready left with my truck.. So now it was Up I75 to Clio and the dealership. Jay said they arrived at 6:06p and I arrived just as they were getting ready to fill out the key envelope. So we filled it out and left our truck in the lot, grabbed supper and drove home. It was about 7:45p when we arrived home.
This morning at 8:05a Simms called to confirm the problem and get our ok to fix it. I sit here now with a very sore left elbow, a guilty concious for breaking my truck, and this Neon sitting in the driveway. I swear I feel like a Ringling Clown crawling out of it!!!!
