Smiling!!!
Sweet thing came up tonight for a card game. But this time we played three handed pinochle. You are looking at my very worthy opponents. Very worthy but the final score was Momma 205, Cindy 135, and Jay 65. There is a very big smile on my face too right now!
It is always a happy time when Sweet Thing comes visiting!!
The Easy Part!
My Granddaughter Jasmine wants to be The Corpse Bride for Halloween. With her mom not having an unlimited budget for costumes they asked for my help.
Now the goal of this project is a costume that resembles this :
This image is from the first result of a Yahoo search of The Corpse Bride
.
In the beginning of this project I looked for wedding gowns, formals or confirmation dresses. No wedding gowns within our budget were available. Formals had been bought for Home Coming dances. A call to a few resale shops turned up a size 7 lace dress. When I went to pick it up I found it was a child’s 7. It was $8.00 and change so I took it in case.
Our first component was a nightgown from a Goodwill Store $2.99. Also a yard and a half of remnant lace from Joanns for $ 3.99 a yard.
The extra lace will be cut into triangles and affixed to the waist of the gown in a scarf type pattern. It will give a flutter to the skirt and yet a tattered look to it.
I purchased the headband new at $ 4.99 also at JoAnn’s.
It had to be small flowers and leaves and needed a veil. That is where the lace dress came in.
An hour or so of disassembling and I had enough lace to make a tattered short veil. I tacked it to some trim that was on the front of the dress so it could be adjusted when it is attached to the headband.
So here we have it. A tattered veil for the head piece.
So now the fun begins. Deb has to find a white body suit and leotards so it can have bones attached to it or drawn on it. The headband has to be treated to look like dead flowers and a dirty veil. The whole outfit must be sprayed with blue streaks and be dirtied up. Then Wes has a big makeup job making Jazz look dead and like she just came out of a grave.
I will do my best to get down to their house for a picture of the finished creation.
So you see I had the easy part!!!!
