Don’t Say,"Go To Sam’s”
Today was planned out with a trip to the Doctor’s Office, then down to Waterford to pick up Jay’s glasses and a visit to Sam’s Club on the way home.
The day started out with the trip to the Dr’s office. I waited in the truck for Jay. I read and started knitting my mittens after I finished the book. After an hour I decided to go inside and pay the bill. Upon returning to the truck I turn the key to check the time and nothing. No clicking, no heater, no displays on the dash, just dead, dead, dead. Get out the cell phone and call roadside assistance. It will be an hour. What choice is there. So I pick up the knitting and waited. A half hour later Jay came out of the office to wait with me.
It was 45 Minutes and help was there. After a couple attempts the truck was finally started. So it was head for home because we didn’t know how long it would run. On the way we stopped at Otisville Glass and Auto Parts in Otisville for a grease to put on the battery posts after we cleaned them. Arriving home Jay took the truck down to the garage and started working on it. He discovered that the battery was shot. So on the phone to Otisville Glass to buy a battery. They graciously brought it out to us.
Jay removed one of the cables but the other one brought post and all out of the battery when he tried to remove it. The cause of our problem was found.
Getting the old battery out was a pain in the butt but between us we pulled it out. That left correcting the one battery cable so we could put the new battery in and connect it.
Jay worked to get the cable end corrected but it was not loosening and we were getting more upset by the minute. Finally we agreed to call the garage in town about fixing it. A conversation with the garage owner resulted in ordering a wrecker to tow the truck in and letting the garage people to correct the problem. They got it fixed fairly quickly and drove it home to pick me up to go pay the bill.
The last time we had a problem (the power steering pump) we were in Sam’s parking lot. Do you think someone is trying to tell us something?
