Easter Duh Two!
Eldest son’s family was also with us on Easter.
Being an unusual family we had an unusual Easter dinner day. Wes and Les with Jay’s words of wisdom got the mower deck on the tractor. Wes took Brandy to the back yard and let her run her little legs off. Up and down the embankment sides. Legs running so fast she would trip herself and tumble head over teakettle to the bottom. Then she would get up and do it all over again. Deb and I stood on the deck watching and laughing at her antics.
As Jasmine tried on a costume for a possible parade gig in Lake Orion…
Courtney and Dakota watch a movie with a table full of activities including dessert dishes in front of them.
Of course Richard Jay’s high school friend was with us also.
I refer to him often as my “other son” because he is part of our family at celebrations.
Easter Duh One!
Under the weather? Man I have been down in the trenches for almost a week. Cindy called on Saturday morning and I couldn’t seem to get a whole sentence out that made it worth speaking. But I’m better today and I sound lucid to me so here goes!
This is probably the most decadent dessert I have made in a long time. It is called a Chocolate Toffee Trifle. I had baked the cake Saturday evening, prick it with a fork, drizzled Kahlua over it, wrapped it in plastic wrap, and left it in the refrigerator over night. On Sunday morning I called in this team of experts to finish it off.
Les cut the cake in cubes and layered the ingredients in a trifle bowl. Courtney whipped the cream and sugar into fine peaks to be used as two of the layers. Anne measured the Saunders Chocolate Fudge and the the Heath bar crumbles to be used as layers also. Trouble hit when we found the trifle bowl was too small for all the layers so Anne took parchment paper and a small plate and push the last layer of cake down into the bowl. This allowed Les to get the rest of the third layers on to complete the process.
It was a joy to see the whole SEB family playing cooks in my kitchen while I washed the dishes and utensils.
