The Three H Words!

I visited Mrs. DoF and read about her no mow ban and it reminded me of of my Grape Hyacinth that refuse to grow any where but down the hill on the side of the back driveway. Not much bigger that your thumb they have come up every spring since I moved here.  Sometimes I just mow them down. Other times I try to transplant them to one of the flower beds. But there are so many and they are so little that it seems to be a losing battle. So this year I will just admire them and their tenacity to grow where they think it is best.

My violets are on each side of the side path to the deck. In the past I tried to contain them but in doing so I allowed the weeds and grass to take over the area so I decided that violets beat Creeping Charley and grass all to pieces.  I guess I’m just a push over where nature is concerned.

I’ve been up since 7:30 am emptied the dishwasher, made coffee, hauled Brandy outside, let Molly out also and took the above pictures. I had gone back in for the camera because my fat beaver was down investigating the driveway. But before I could get back out there he was gone. Yesterday I tried to get bunny but he was too far away to make out. I then took both the indoor animals back inside, fed both, poured my cup of coffee, poured the rest in the carafe to stay warm and came to sit with you a while. On my way to the computer I noticed that the birds were awfully vocal this morning and discovered I hadn’t covered them last night. Amazingly they are all quiet now.

Well today I’ll get the bracket up for the nectar feeders for the Humming Birds and the Orioles. It may be a tad early but at least they will be ready. We had a great rain last night so I want to check on the Bleeding Hearts this morning, and check the basement to see if the hose from the down spout of the eaves trough is still working.

I want to bring up the umbrella and table to the deck. We brought the chairs up yesterday. Jay will take the tractor down and haul up the gas grill and propane bottle also. I am dreaming of the day we can have the deck rebuilt and have a natural gas line to the deck to run the gas grill. We had that setup at our last house and it was great.

Well I hear Jay moving around so I’m going into routine mode--record the figures for yesterday’s results. help with the blood test, record the weight, get out the pills, and fill the insulin needle for him. He is doing a little better eyesight wise but still not up to par.  He has been puttering in the back yard and the basement for the last week and it has made a tremendous difference in his blood sugar. But more importantly his attitude is much better also.

So stay healthy, happy, and hopeful until I see you again!

Update:  Rain, rain, rain! So the out door activities are bubbling in the puddles.  Oh well another day--I’ll read the newspaper!
