For You!

Sorry no pictures of my pets for Halloween because the camera isn’t back and with all the medical stuff going on I didn’t get a scary story ready either.  But I did find this card and fell in love with it.  So my friends I have to share it with you.  HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

The Bed Is Calling!

Thursday’s plans went haywire when I received a call on the way home from taking Jay into Divita.  It seemed they couldn’t get the dialysis to work and wanted him to see a Dr. to see why.  So Friday we were at the hospital for an ultra sound on the arm.  They found a narrowing in the vein and sent him home with instructions to call to call the office of the doctor who did the operation originally on Monday morning at 9 am.  So Jay got up at 7 am, took a shower, and waited until 9 to call.  He was told someone would call him back and at 10 am we called again.  They check with the Doctor and called us back around 11:45 am to tell us to come into the hospital to Radiology for another test and to try and fix the vein after.  We explained that it would take us an hour to get in but they said to come ahead.  So off we went and when we got there they said that we didn’t arrive when they were ready for us so they took some one else first.

Now Jay had nor taken his medication or insulin since yesterday.  He had nothing to eat since 7 pm yesterday and I of course didn’t eat either.  They studied the test taken today, explained the procedure, and took him in sometime after 2 pm.  He was back in the room by 4 pm and the good news is that they were able to widen the vein.  So tomorrow we will see if he will be able to take his second dialysis treatment.

Of course when we finally left the hospital we stopped and had a big old fashion breakfast at around 6 pm only 23 hours after the last meal so that messed up the meals for today.  He just had a small dish of fruit and has gone to bed.  I’ll be following soon.

On Saturday two of my grandchildren and two of their friends are coming up so we can work on getting costumes ready for the Lake Orion Lighted Christmas Parade this year.  I may not be able to walk in it any more but I still manage to help get others ready for it.  I miss the crowds and the kids along the parade way but I know my feet won’t take it anymore.

Les (SEB) and his family will be up Sunday for a short visit and hopefully some lunch with us.  We haven’t seen them in a while.

So that all from ( what Cindy calls ) Hooterville for now.  My bed is calling me and I’m happy to answer. Good Night!

Yep A Better Mood Today!

Back again.  Jay is getting ready for his second dialysis treatment today.  We plan to do a post on Jay’s Jammin’ a little later this evening on his experiences so far.  The injection in the eye on Monday is going to take a couple of weeks to see how it works so we have no results on that.  Tuesday morning Dr. Ross rechecked it and pronounce all was well so far.  Then of course the Dialysis started Tuesday afternoon.

I was in Lapeer Tuesday after I got Jay into Davita, his dialysis unit in Davison. to pay my respects to my friend’s daughter-in-law who passed away on Saturday morning from blood clots.  She was 39 years old with three daughters ages 2 through 7 years old.  Always sad when someone passes but worse when they are young and leaving children behind.

Well the sun is shining through the living room bay window and Brandy is sleeping on the floor in the middle of it.  Not much else going on at the moment so I’ll get myself ready to run Jay into his treatment and come back home to crochet a while.  Could vacumn and mop but that ain’t no fun!!!

I’ll Be Better!

I just got off checking for Mexican Chocolate for Jay on Amazon, the net, and any other place he could think of.  Now remember he can’t see and is working from memory.  So he questions every thing I see and do.  When I say there is no item or search window where he thinks there should be he gets upset and questions.  Then I get upset and read every frickin’ thing on the page.  But we finally come together, find the item, and order it.

Then I went to my email and I find Molly on one side of me wanting to go outside (she can’t because it is after dark), or go to the basement (I open the door and turn on the light and she walks the other way), or go watch her eat!

On the other side is Brandy dancing around to go outside.  So I get my coat, taking care not to let Molly out, I take Brandy out.  A quick pee and then she wants to sit out in the dark and listen to the night sounds.  By now my frown is so deep you could drive a truck into it and the head is starting to pound.

Then Brandy is back over for me to throw a toy for her.  Not only does she camp beside me but she growls quietly too.  So put the post on close, submit it, and throw toys for a few minutes.

While I’m up I remember that the birds weren’t fed today because we ere gone.  So that job had to get done.  Being gone was the only good part of my day because we met Cindy and David down in Lake Orion for breakfast.

Being gone today there was no siesta and no crocheting either.  After supper I’m going to lay down until it is time to take Jay’s blood pressure and sugar for tonight.  I’ll be better tomorrow I promise!

Now this was damn exciting wasn’t it!!!

Cold Hands!

Brandy at one month!
It is hard to be believe that in nine months our Brandy is now 10 pounds.  I told her no more pigging out or she will get to look like me.  The latest trick is to sit beside me, look up, and growl softly for attention.  I asked the other night if she had to go outside and she started dancing.  So I left the computer, got on my coat, and was reaching for the leash when I looked down to see her standing there with a toy in her mouth.  Little shit!

Dog Philosophy #5

A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.  Josh Billings

Update on the feathered pets ---All three visited with Dr. Buck today.  They are all in good shape and were groomed also!

Jay’s treatment for his eye is a week from today and we are hoping for some vision in a couple of weeks.

It has been three years yesterday since I was diagnosed with COPD.  Still holding my own with no medication.  I try to remember the breathing exercises at least three or four times a week.  But need to increase them to twice a day.  The arm problem comes and goes----right now it is in goes mode!

Despite all my resolve my crocheting is suffering badly.  The problem is I not under a deadline so I’m dragging my butt as well as my feet!!!

Hope your weekend was good.  Stay warm and healthy!

Spend All Day!

Yeah right--gonna spend all day crocheting!  I was up until 1:18 am and woke up at 10:20 am.  Got Jay’s medical routine out of the way, grabbed a bath and then fed Molly and Brandy.  I took Jay out to breakfast at Arlene’s and then started my search for mini light bulbs to fix my Halloween lights on the front of the house.  During the search I found a rubber and furry spider the size of my hand to put on the glass of the front door.  The cat in the pumpkin flag is hanging out front and the colors are so vibrant that it makes you smile when you look at it.

The fire bush is now the darkest red it can be and the leaves are starting to wrinkle.  Leaves are falling all over the yard now and bare branches continue to show up.

Yesterday I fixed the canned bruschetta on toasted Italian bread, garnished with grated mild cheddar, and placed in the oven to melt the cheese.  For dessert we had homemade applesauce (Jay’s recipe).  Good eats that we made ourselves!

While we were out today we went to the grocery store and came home $130. lighter but part of that was spent on three Microplane tools that Jay didn’t have.

Well it is off to the crochet hook until it is time to get a late lunch on the table.  Have a great day!

Oh For My Camera!

October 12th for crying our loud and in the great outdoors there is snow, rain, fog, and wind all making driving a pain in the butt!  You feel like going shopping for Christmas gifts and maybe digging out the Christmas tree.  Then the sun came out and all was bright including the snow on the ground.  Then it would go gray again.  The wind would begin to blow, the snow swirl, and the sleet joined the rain to make you clench your teeth and grip your steering wheel with white knuckles.

After the appointment with Dr. Ross we drove to Wes’ house to pick up my keys.  When he was up last week he drove me to the store but forgot to give me my keys back.  After he left for home I called to see if he remembered where I’d put my keys.  He said, “I hope I didn’t bring them home with me’.  Then he said, “Shit I have them”.  I told him that I didn’t need them I had Jay’s but I would be down and pick them up.

Upon arrival at his house I saw on his table in the parlor was covered with a collection of plants that he hurriedly brought in this morning when the snow started to fall.  I had only two outside and had David bring them in a couple of weeks back so I was ahead of the game.  Anyway if I’d had my camera I would have been taking pictures for you.  Darn It!!!

Worn Out!

We are worn out! We now have an additional 29 jars of Bruschetta In A Jar.  Why? Because everyone that tasted it wanted some and we were down to five jars.  We also made !7 jars of Grape jelly with a touch of cinnamon and cloves the same day.  My neighbor said she wasn’t happy with grape juice she had gotten from her dad to share with us.  So we added the cinnamon and cloves to it and it came out very tasty.

Then today we canned 20 pints of applesauce --that because I read to Jay about Mrs. Dof’s applesauce and he said we should put up some too.  We have six pints made with cognac, honey, and cinnamon and 14 pints made with sugar, cinnamon, and cloves.  Jay was helping where ever he could so it made working a little easier.  As we were looking up the processing time for the applesauce in the Ball Book we found a recipe for Apple Pie In A Jar and Carrot Cake In A Jar.  No! No!  I told him this evening that I’m all done now.  He knows we have seven empty pints jars left and he has been kidding me all night about I can’t take them back down stairs empty.  I told him to just watch (well listen to me) as I trip lightly down them stairs baby!!
