75----Yesssss!!!!
Right this very moment in Otisville, MI it is a 75 big beautiful degrees. I want to throw open all the doors and windows in my dome. I want to pull off these heavy old walking shoes and spread my toes out over what will soon be green grass. I want to move the birds and animals out in the warm sunshine. But most of all I want to pull off my clothes and run through the back yard screaming. Wait a minute I have to think about that last statement. Can you see it now? Jugs hanging down to my kneecaps, veins in my legs that look like a gunshot rainbow, and the wrinkles if pulled tight would cover a whole second body. No I can’t do that to my neighbors. They are good, kind and helpful people. They certainly don’t deserve to die laughing!!!

My Rung!
Yep it has been shirt sleeve weather (as the old folks call it) the last few days. The snow is gone. Kinda makes you want to put the big plants out on the deck, pull the grill from the basement, set up the umbrella table, and wash the outside of the windows. I can’t believe I just typed wash windows!!!
The social calendar has been as empty as the dance card for an ugly girl in her first formal. But that is changing now with Jay’s visit to Dr. Ross’ office last Friday, my appointment with Dr. Rohr on Monday, and Jay’s surgery on Tuesday. (gee Mom I’m popular again!!)
Today started with Brandy’s whimpers at a little after 8 am so I put on the shoes, my coat, and grabbed the leash for a walk in the morning air.
This is what the outdoor thermometer read. Beats the piss out of the last few months readings I’ll tell you! This thermometer came with the house when we bought it but the line of the roof on the covered bridge used to confuse me when I look out the window at it. A glance read either -10 or 80 degrees so I bought a new one which I promptly knock off the wall last year and broke. So I pulled this old one out of the garage and hung it back up while I searched for another new one. If I think about it while I’m out I hunt through those on display in the store but nothing has reached out and grab me by the throat yet. I guess the problem is I’m too picky. I never used to be. In my younger days if it suited the purpose or did the job I bought it. Now it seems with the years rushing past I want to enjoy what I see. Even an outdoor thermometer has to have appeal. Foolish --maybe so but when you get to my rung of the ladder baby you will want it too!

What A ----
----difference a day makes--yes I know it’s a song title but it also fits Michigan weather!
Yesterday signs of Spring were popping up every where. But today----
----it was like walking on a powdered sugar donut!
While I have you here I want to share a couple more Dog Philosophy entries. See you thought this was done but although I’m slow or forgetful I’m also persistent.

it is certain dogs I known will go to heaven,
and very, very few persons.

Catchup And Not What Goes on Burgers!
I have been lax in posting my Dog Philosophy so I thought I would double up on this item.

Equal time to the feline side of our zoo brings this to light!
The sunshine seems to make any place a snooze spot where Molly is concerned.
A visit is in order to Jay’s Jammin’
He has been making some real yummy things this few days! Keep an eye on him because he has learned how to post pictures and link---My goodness we’ve created a monster. Just kidding!!!!
A Little Irish!
Saturday was spent visiting with Jeanie and brother Gene. We were invited for Corn Beef and Cabbage with carrots and mashed potatoes on the side.
Jeanie turned out a delicious meal and spent time catching up on what was going on.
Of course Brandy and Gene had to have some time together too. We had to bring her or Gene wouldn’t have let us in the door! Even though he has two dogs of his own Brandy still won his heart!
Before we left Jeanie took a picture of us to show you ‘my wearing of the green’ for the day!
We ate our Peach Cobbler and ended a pleasant but not too long visit because my brother tires quickly.

Wisdom!
No fancy sayings or Irish tales to share today
Just remember all the things you usually say.
Also remember all things yellow are not gold

Hair Raising--Yes!
While changing the sheets on the bed the other day I pulled up the blanket and my fingernails went through the material. Now this Velux blanket has given me many years of service but it was definitely time to replace it. So the purchase of the new one allowed me to examine the old one to see if anything could be salvaged.
Behold a little time spent with the sewing machine and Brandy’s crate has not only a new cover but also a matching pad to sleep on. I was on a roll now so it was out to the truck with a piece of newspaper and a pen to mark out a pad to fit over the console cover. By using elastic bands I was able to secure the pad in place yet still allow the lid to snap closed.
All three items are machine washable so keeping them clean won’t be a problem. But I did discover one problem when we went for a ride today. I happened to look over and the hair on Brandy’s ears was standing up. Hopefully a couple of washing will correct that!

Spring Ain’t Sprung Yet!
A glance outside five days ago would have presented this picture to you. Kind of an ugly view of gray looking grass tangled with dead leaves and a Brandy sniffing through every inch of it. Yes with only 11 days to go Mother Nature was already sweeping Old Man Winter under the proverbial rug and this old lady couldn’t be happier.
On the the 13th I announced the glad tidings that it was over 72 degrees outside and I was all ready to throw the boots in the basement and move the hats and gloves box to an upstairs closet. Why yesterday I even brought up a small table and another plastic chair to put on the deck. I was going to be ready to sit out and read or crochet in the warm spring sunshine. The snow was almost all gone so the John Deere with the plow on the front looked extremely out of place. I now needed to think about getting some one to change it over to the mower deck. Yep I was one happy old hen and my nest was getting comfy again. I even thought a walk out on the hill to see if any of the lilac plants were still growing was in order but then as it happens so many times now my mind veered off on another path and the lilacs were forgotten.
This morning my trusty thermometer read 30 as Molly and I walked out for her morning constitutional and a thought I had been pushing to the back of my head came rushing forward. The radio in the truck said we would have snow on Saturday. Nooooo! Snow on St Pattie’s Day not unheard of but not welcome either. It will be only six days until the calendar announces the arrival of Spring. Mother Nature can’t do this to me. To invite old Man Winter back into my life after this tiny sip of warmth and sunshine is cruel and inhumane treatment.
I have twigs and branches that fell in the winter to pick up and haul to the pile out back. A few pop cans, cups, and fast food papers that were so generously throw in the ditch by butt heads in passing cars and trucks need to be rounded up also. Not to mention cigarette packages that so conveniently fly from the vehicle windows to decorate my yard. I haven’t even had a puff in almost five years now so I don’t need to advertise another person’s vices.
I guess a deep breath is in order, maybe a gritting of teeth, and a strong resolve that I will get through this. After all I have already for the last 71 years. Very soon my friend I will be saying stay cool, keep active, and love the live you are in because you only have one.

Don’t Hold Your Breath!
A call from Cindy yesterday was an I’m sorry but I can’t come up I’m getting bronchitis and you don’t need that. I have been visiting with my brother in the hospital lately and I heard he was going home possibly tomorrow. The diagnosis was small cell cancer in one of his lungs and chemo seems to be the method of treatment at this time. It is contained at the moment so there is no telling if this will work. I love him dearly but being the oldest I have to be prepared for any outcome.
Today was 72 degrees on my outside thermometer and it is a welcome feeling after the snow and cold. Man I can’t wait to complain about how hot it is in this house.
Our Brandy and Molly are now in the I’ll chase you, then you chase me, then I’ll bark at you, and you will swat at me stage. With Brandy at 9 lbs. 2 oz. and Molly at 14 lbs. it sounds like elephants trooping down the hallway. Brandy brings Molly a ball to play with and Molly looks at her like she is nut or something. But I must admit when I get up in the morning, pick toys off the floor from Brandy and hunt for all the mittens and slippers that Molly has hidden during the night it is like having young children in the house.
Well all I read on the blogs is unclutter this, Spring house clean that, and I really don’t want to think about it. I keep saying that one night I will lay this weary body down to rest and in the morning The Good House keeping fairies will have worked everything into a white glove paradise. Yeah Right!!! I guess I’ll just dream on! Eventually when I have to get the shovel from the shed, and a gallon pail of Windex ready then I’ll do my wifely duties. I really hate housekeeping. Almost as much as ironing and cooking. Come to think of it I’m not much of an asset around the house any more. I wonder if he will fire me and hire a real woman. Naw no such luck he thinks I’m hilarious behind the wheel of the truck and I keep his heart pounding on long drives. No I guess I’m here for a while yet.
So if I get over this streak of laziness and the good weather holds I should look something like a housekeeper in another couple of months! But don’t hold you breath!
