Butterflies And Raindrops Both Very Small!
It seems that this little butterfly bush is starting to work it’s magic. The past couple of years I have seen no butterflies. Even putting out a feeder brought no visitors to the yard. I spray painted my metal butterfly so it would show up better. I know it probably no difference to the butterflies but at least I feel better.
True enough it is not real big but there were four of them in the yard yesterday before the rain.
Yes indeed we did finally get rain last evening and into the night. It has certainly help the bleached blond look but more will have to fall to bring us back to green.

Full Calendar
It is hot outside. Not sweltering mind you but warm enough to find a toad (frog?) in the fountain when I went out to fill it this afternoon. Also the birdbath out front is getting a bit of activity. The yard looks like a blond with a bad bleach job from the beauty shop. The weather man says maybe rain tonight or maybe tomorrow but I won’t hold my breath. I’m glad we don’t have anything garden wise in the ground because it would be gasping about now.
Over at Jay’s blog the cherry canning adventure is the subject along with changing the mailbox post. Both in the same day and both pretty comical. I mean a shop vac on the shoulder of the road caused some horn beeping and waving.
After Jay’s appointment with Dr. Rohr yesterday it was decided that tomorrow he will have a laser treatment on the eye. Thursday we see Dr. Ross and Friday Dr. Rohr again. Our ‘social calendar’ gets pretty full sometimes!

Another Thought!
A few days ago I received this text from Pammie and sent it on. I had a thought occur to me today that it could be framed and hung where I would see it all the time. So I went to work in print shop and this is the result. Until I get a frame it is tacked on the wall at my right shoulder.
I don’t remember if I told you that Jay went back (out patient) to the hospital on June 7 th after a call from Davita the day before that the dialysis wasn’t working. He has had four sessions since then with good results but I still wait for the phone to ring when he is in treatment.
A Challenge!
Well the trip to the ear Dr. yesterday resulted in a good report I think! He said my ear canal was empty--not to mention my head. But I still couldn’t talk him into taking a couple of tucks around my eyes for old times sake. He said, “Mary must I remind you again that I’m an ear nose and throat Dr?” Life is full of technicalities!
Yesterday I went down to the road to get the mail and found my mailbox falling off the post. Now this is one of those plastic jobs with the mailbox on top and the paper box underneath. The post that supports it had split and the bolt came loose. Jay and I fix it temporarily but Saturday we will have to fix it correctly.
I’ll tell you I sure wish I’d had a camera out there and someone to take pictures because it sure was funny. Jay and I were both flat of our butts on the shoulder of the road trying to try to put the bolts into the front of the post through the plastic base. Picture a fat, old, white haired lady and her half blind hubby trying to fix a mailbox with car and trucks whizzing by. But sh** happens and you can’t call a son to drive 50 miles after he has worked all day to fix it for you. Such is life in a semi-rural setting.
If you read Jay’s blog you know we put up 42 half pints of strawberry and strawberry/rhubarb jam on Tuesday. Each year it is getting to be more of a routine for us. Next it will be tart cherry jam and Danish Cherry Sauce if we can find them. Then raspberry are on the docket. July is a month that promises harvest of several of the fruits we need so we have to stay alert.
Jay has an appointment with the Dr. that did his cataract procedure on Monday to correct a problem that has developed. Then he goes back to the Retinologist. Boy life in the ‘fast lane’ sure is a challenge ain’t it!!

Much Ado About Nonsense!
Brandy has started bringing rocks out of the driveway into the house to chew on. I can tell when she does this because she goes right to her pillow on the floor and puts her head down. Usually a finger in her mouth retrieves said item but this morning I didn’t even need a finger.
I expect a bolder next time.
Well the weatherman told a lie he said we would have rain starting Tuesday for four days. But a quick check this morning said abundant sunshine and maybe one morning with some showers. A look around the yard told me that a round with the sprinkler was in order. So as soon as Jay left for dialysis I started it. During my set up I noticed the Catalpa tree was in bloom again.
It does have one side that it growth was impeded by the older tree but since the bigger tree was cut down you can see it’s attempt to branch out on both sides now.
This was an attempt from the truck window to catch a Gold Finch and I think his mate at the thistle feeder.
I was afraid I would scare them away if I got out of the truck to get closer.
Well in the fridge the strawberries are calling to be cleaned.
I promised Jay I work on them while he was in treatment. We will start the jam making tomorrow morning.
Well my friends as the title said this was Much Ado About Nonsense so as the plaque that Cindy gave me says:
If you don’t like it!!!!!! ( not being mean just trying to get you to smile!!!)

Another Mustard(oop! I mean Catch up)!
Brother Dan left Wednesday afternoon for Grayling, Gaylord, and Traverse City, Michigan.
We had a couple of days alone then on Saturday Cindy, Les, Courtney, and Anne joined us for dinner. Nothing special --just oven fried chicken, herb and butter mashed potatoes, fried zucchini and an Asian salad mix. Les tweak the new computer because it had developed a couple of problems. But it is all better now. While they were here they gave Jay a new cookbook for Father’s day.
The picture taking left Jay, Anne, and I out but next time we will make up for it.
Les and family left for a graduation party and Cindy stayed on giving pedicures to Jay and I. This was her Father’s day gift and I benefited from it too. A luxury we seldom have.
Today we are going over to Meijers for some Fels Naptha. Jay’s Green Gage Plum has Leaf Rollers and his research on the net turned up the soap in a solution as a cure.
Tomorrow I’ll pick up the Michigan Strawberries so we can start the strawberry and strawberry/rhubarb jam on Tuesday morning. This will be the first of the jam making for this year.
There will be no rain until Tuesday according to the forecast but then four days of it are expected. I certainly hope so because dragging 100 feet of hose around ain’t fun. At the old house we had in ground sprinklers but we also had a lawn not a yard.
I have to tell you about the meatloaf I made last Tuesday. Four lbs. of ground chuck so I needed two baking dishes. Then Tuesday night we decided to take Dan and Peg out for pan fried Walleye. So one loaf went into the fridge and the other into the freezer. We ate meatloaf for lunch and dinner through Friday night to finish it. The frozen one went home with Cindy yesterday. I love meatloaf but enough is enouh all ready!!!
Right now Jay is watching his car shows, Brandy is asleep on the couch beside him, and Spirit is talking up a storm in his cage. I can’t always make out what he says but it has to be funny because he laughs about it!
Hope your weekend was good and that you have only pleasant things to do next week. We will visit again soon. ( that’s a threat or a promise depending on how you look at it. [I’m smiling guys])!

The Visitor’s Barometer!
On the day my brother Dan and his sweet wife Peggy arrived for a visit Jay and I went to Vg’s grocery store and bought a small bouquet of balloons. These balloons were in the front room for the whole visit.
One by one they started to hit the floor. Dan jokingly said that when the last balloon hit the floor it was time for them to move on. Yesterday balloon # 3, the yellow one, was half way down the string and the mylar was still in the air.
This morning it was still half way up the string. Upon closer inspection we found it was tangled in the mylar string and could not fall to the floor.
Jay’s comment was it looked like they had another day and a half before they had to leave.
But darn it they had to continue on their journey! We are going to miss them!!!
Update: As they were leaving Jay confessed that in the middle of the night he got up and tied the yellow balloon to the mylar string! He is going to miss them because of all the conversations.

Wow It worked!!!
Here you have it! My baby brother Daniel and better half Peggy at last! Eight years between visits.
Brother Dan, brother Gene, and I. ( I’m the one with hair ha ha).
Dinner on Sunday with my brothers and Wes’ family. Menu was roast pork with baked apple, a couple of salads, and ice cream cake.
Left to right:
Wes my eldest, Jasmine his eldest, my brother Gene down front, in orange Dakota, Wes’ youngest, Momma (with gravy on her shirt! ) and brother Dan! What a crew this is!!!
This visit enabled me to re-gift my last bookmark made by Mrs. DoF to Peggy.
On Monday Cindy was up to spend the day. We laughed a lot then boy!!
On Wednesday Dan and Peg move on up North to visit Peggy’s sisters and Dad.
That evening Gene comes to spend two days with us.
So we may have a couple of days silence here in the corner because I’m one week behind in my newspapers.
Update:
Gene’s fiance called last night to say that he wouldn’t be staying with us due to a change in medical appointments. So things were very quiet around my Corner last night.
Due to Technical Difficulties
Just a moment to tell you that brother Dan and sis-in-law Peggy arrived safely on Saturday afternoon.
Several Pictures to upload but the internet connection is acting up again.
I have an appointment with a tech on Thursday so I’ll try to get them up after that.
Have a good day!

D For Dan Day!
Four days to D Day --that is D for Dan and lovely wife Peggy. ( my baby brother and sis-in-law) Been a long time since we’ve seen each other. They will be with us for a few days to catch up with us, kids, and grandkids. Wes and family will be up on Sunday, Cindy on Monday, and hopefully Les and family on the 16th.
My scan scheduled for Monday has be moved to July 3rd so I’m happy about that. My blood test was good but I was told lower the fat and cholesterol in my diet and increase exercise. Like I don’t know that 235.5 lbs. isn’t good for a 72 year old to be carrying around. So I guess cut downs on sweets, fats, and all things good are in order. (You will notice I said cut downs---I have earned a little pleasure in life just for living this long!!)
Jay’s hand on the dialysis arm is acting up so we are watching that closely. He has medicine for it and wears this bright orange thermo glove ( a flashy rock star look).
Well Dear hearts I have a ton of cleaning to do and the housework fairies must be on strike because they ain’t been around lately so it is off to see the mop pail , the vacuum, and dust rags at least for a while to day, tomorrow, and Friday. I’ll to try to sneak by with a report on my progress if you care!
