Try It You’ll Love It!
An e-mail from a dear friend reminded me that I did not tell you what spot in the family the ‘girls’ from First Annual held.
The Lovely Mother Is Anne’s lovely mother!
The star of Pensive is of course my daughter-in-law, SEB’s wife.
Melvin & Me, the actual name of the Jenkins’ cat, stars SEB’s daughter, my granddaughter.
The Happy Redhead can be no other but my only daughter!
Of course Momma you know!!!
The posters were all made with Print Shop edition 10 as well as the banner!
It took a while but was well worth the reaction of the participants.
The movies we watch were Ever After, A Knight’s Tale, and my favorite of the night Mrs. Henderson Presents
We ate, we laughed, we cried, and ate again! An ideal night when all of us were equals and were free to enjoy!
Try It with your group you will love it!!.

Back To The Patch!
Yes we went this morning and picked another 3.54 lbs of blueberries. Stop by Jay’s Jammin’ to see the results.
The visits yesterday to Jay’s Doctors resulted in an ultra sound appointment ( for personal physician) and another surgery for the dialysis. The carousel never stops does it.
My appointment to see about what to do with my feet is tomorrow. So maybe I won’t have to walk like Frankenstein one of these days. My personal physician says more exercise but my feet say forget it so something is going to have to change. I really don’t want to be bury in a piano box!!!!
I’m waiting for David to find time to change the blades on the mower because I have had them sharpened. My poor yard is a wild carrot patch right now. I won’t even talk about the flower gardens other than they are starting to look ragged again. It seems like everything is growing healthy except the people around here.
I had Harry Potter for five days now and haven’t even read the cover. I’m in the middle of Jeffrey Deaver’s The Sleeping Doll and can’t seem to pick that back up. There are two squares done and another started for Pammies Project which needs more attention than what I am giving it right now.
Brother Dan had a little set back and is in the hospital again but I have spoke with him two days in a row now and he should be going home again in another couple of days.
Well July is almost over so maybe August will bring things back to normal--one can only hope.
Keep smiling ,stay healthy and if you get rich remember who your friends are!!!!

Canning Pickled Beets!
Friday afternoon Jay said, “what have we got going for tomorrow?”
My reply, “Nothing, absolutely nothing, nada, null, and ain’t that nice”
But that was before the phone rang and McDaniel’s Farm Market called to say the beets Jay had ordered were in.
So it was down to just outside of Millington to pick them up before 7 pm closing. I wanted to have everything ready to start canning on Saturday morning.
We had been down to our last jar of pickled beets and we wanted to get more started before we were out entirely.
By Saturday afternoon there were 17 pints sitting on the counter and the mess was all cleaned up.
So my friend instead of sitting in the swing crocheting and playing peek-a-boo with this cute, little Hummingbird we spent the day visiting with Les, Anne, and Courtney ( due to a power failure where they live) and canning pickled beets!

33 Long Years!
Yes it is true---33 years ago today. Grammie Pammie made the announcements for us.
I have more pictures once I learn how to crop from a scanner.
In the chair in the blue and white dress was my grandmother, Mable Waggoner-Miller.
Standing left to right. Pammie of Grammie Pammie, Dan’s wife Peggy, Me, with Cindy of Cindyisms at my knees. Jay is next, then Lesley of Stupid Evil Bastard, my brother Dan, and my eldest son Wesley. Tony Dobry, Peggy’s father, bless his heart performed the ceremony
For now I’ll just say Happy Anniversary Husband of mine and hopefully we will see a few more!

More Birds!
It was out to the swing this evening to knit, have some Brandy companionship, and possibly get some more pictures of the birds.
Brandy sat very still when I left the swing to get closer to the tree.
I still wanted a picture of one of the Gold Finches. They are very skittish to any movement so it takes a lot of time to get a shot.
I finally got one on the thistle feeder but I’m not happy yet. I’ll continue my quest until I succeed.
I did however get a better shot of the Hummingbird.
I missed one with the sun shining on it’s back--beautiful. But with at least two of them out there it is easier to get closer without scaring them. So we will see how close we can get.
Well enough running the mouth for this evening. I have to finish the square and crochet another one at least.
Take care and laugh a little --It can’t hurt!

Berries, Birds, And Animals!
The yard is alive with birds and animals this evening. After a busy day picking and canning blueberries I decided that I deserved a little time in the swing with Brandy. It is 80 degrees outside and as usual the Hummingbirds are stopping by for their sips of nectar. The Chickadee thought a bit of thistle might hit the spot this evening.
While we were sitting there the bunny rabbit ran out of the woods near the swing followed by the deer. I was so surprised I could only stare at them. They have both been by before but not together. Even If I had had my camera I couldn’t have raised it quick enough. My neighbor Phyllis was just over and said there is a coyote running loose out back which may explain the rabbit and deer being in such a hurry. She also said that a fox with seven kits was seen by another lady over behind us.
If you look real close you can see the Hummingbird at the feeder on the right in the picture. Unfortunately it was in a position that the Red Maple made it hard to see. I’ll try shooting from a different angle next time.
Well we did indeed get all the recipes for the blue berries done today and if you slip over to Jay’s Jammin’ you can see the results.
It is past supper time and we don’t know what to eat. So I’d best shut my mouf’ and start thinkin’. Good night!
Blueberry Time Again!
Jay and I picked 9.20 pounds of blueberries yesterday morning and shopped for the ingredients to make our goodies today. Consequently this old woman had a siesta when I got home and went to bed early last night. This resulted in rising at 6:00 am to day.
I have washed jars in hot soapy water and put them into the dishwasher to be rewashed and sanitized. I have to check in the food room to see if I have any more jelly jars and then round up rings for them because I bought new lids yesterday.
On tap for today is canning blueberry jam, blueberry/rhubarb jam, blueberry sauce, and blueberry chutney. I will prep the blueberries and have a bowl of cereal and by then Jay will be up and I can find out which recipe gets done first. Let you know a little later in the day how it went!!

Another Side!
Sunday was my brother Gene’s memorial service. Not to be disrespectful of the dead but I never realize what a big Bull sh***** he was nor what a war hero he claimed to be. But now he has passed and we will not spoil the memories that some people have of him.
It was a lovely service with the families of both his companions coming together to honor him.
Now for happier news Daniel my other brother is doing very well after his surgery.
As it turned out it was a double by-pass with replacement of a heart valve using bovine tissue. I have told my kids to moo at him when they call to get his attention. I even sent flowers today. The card read To My Favorite ‘Cowboy’! I am bound and determine to make him grab that heart pillow every change I get because although it hurts laughter is the best medicine.
If I shock you with my attitude you have just seen another side of Momma.

Another Day In !
Stress plays an important part in a person’s life. We each handled it differently. Some of us worry which increases it’s power over us. Others keep busy, listen to music, go shopping, and even eat. I used to think ‘what if ‘---and the stress would grow needlessly because ‘what if’ hardly ever happened. As I grew older I went to ‘what is the worst that can happen’, then on to ‘I’ll handle it when it happens’ and I have. Now I don’t say I still don’t stress out over somethings but I keep busy. Yesterday it was canning 29 jars of apricot jam while Jay was in dialysis.
Jay had called orchards in the area to find out when the apricots would be in. The answer was the same everywhere. A warm spell this year, then a frost and a lot of the crop was lost. Knowing that daughter-in-law Deb and I love the jam I talked Jay into store bought fruit so I would have us covered.
Then night before last a call from my brother Daniel in Florida announced that he would have triple by pass surgery the next day. First thought is oh no we will lose him too. But I dismissed that immediately and plan my day to stay busy during his surgery. So I prepared and can my apricots waiting to hear from sister-in-law Peggy as to how it went.
I finished the jam with feet and legs screaming to sit down. I got the clean up out of the way except for the sticky floor and took a pain pill and laid down because Jay was home by then to answer the phone.
The call came later saying that the surgery was successful, that there had been some bleeding problems but all was under control. With a sigh of relief and a bowl of soup in my tummy I turned in for the night.
This morning I mopped the sticky floor so the Apricot jam saga is complete.
An aside: I saw a deer in our backyard day before yesterday. Don’t ask me what it was because with no horns it could have a doe or a little older than a fawn. I do know it was beautiful and of course the camera was in the house.
The next worry is what to say tomorrow at brother Gene’s memorial service. The old stand by ‘I’ll handle when it happens’ kicked in and I know I will.
Have a good weekend everyone. Laugh, love, and stay healthy.
