Bird Totem!
I named this gift from Mike and Dar a bird totem because that was what came to mind when I saw Michael carrying it into the house. With a solar light on it the only place to display it for now was out on the deck. So there it sits waiting for a special spot in the yard to grab me by the throat and scream this is where I belong! As Spring gains momentum I’m sure I’ll find the perfect place to enjoy my Totem.
Mike and Dar came up on Friday evening , spent the night and we took them to Frankenmuth for Dinner on Saturday. We had Chicken dinner with all the trimming at the Bavarian Inn, visited the Castle Shoppes, and ended up in the bakery buying Stollen Bread ( three loaves to be exact). Two went into the freezer and one is sitting on the kitchen counter waiting to be made into breakfast toast. Of course it also makes mighty fine French toast too. ( I sound like lose 30 lbs. don’t I!)
Our dinner was very good, our service fine, the cuisine excellent, and the tummies were full as we left to come home. I had a little problem walking but I guess that is to be expected with being only four months out of surgery. But it did sort of put a damper on our little trip.
Mike and Dar went home yesterday evening I guess they knew I was in pain and needed rest.
A little later I heard a thud near the French Door area but the furries were resting on the floor around me so I ignored it. A few minutes later another thud in the same area. Jay got up from his computer and came over near me to investigate. We opened the blinds on the doors and turned on the outside lights. Out on the bird feeder was a raccoon larger than Brandy and Molly put together. I tried to get a picture but my flash on the glass distorted it. I opened the door and yelled at him/her to leave but it just hunkered down lower in the seeds ignoring me. I went the the utility room and got my broom and went back out to prod him/her off the feeder. It looked for a while that I was losing and the raccoon was staying put. But I finally got it to vacate the premises. I discovered the two thuds I had heard was the suet cakes being dropped on the deck floor. So I pulled them inside for the night and will continue doing that and until said beast moves on to another food source. Next time I’ll open the door and get my picture if it happens again.

A Big Order On An Empty Plate!
The trip to Dr. Fortin’s office yesterday gave me good news and some information on what my next step will be. The good news was that my progress with healing is ahead of what he had expected me to accomplish. The information on swelling was that it can take 6 to 9 months to return to normal. So the swelling is actually normal. I have a rash on my foot however that I will check with my personal physician to determine treatment. My next appointment with Dr. Fortin is June 24th. At that time we will discuss the surgery on my left ankle if all went according to expectations. My personal goal is to lose 30 pounds or more, exercise with hand weights, and ride the stationary bike. This is to strengthen myself to allow me to move quicker after the next surgery. This is I realize quite an large size order for someone who loves to eat, finds exercise boring, and thinks 73 year olds should be able to do whatever they want. I know there will be setbacks but I have three months to accomplish it.

Bald Bunny!
There has got to be a very bald Easter Bunny running around my yard today because when I looked out the window this morning all I could see was white fur all over the ground!

Not Exactly Easter Dinner!
Dave and Cyn, Wes and Deb, at dinner!
Les and Anne!
Jay and Richard
Cyn and Courtney.
Not your average Easter dinner. Two large pans of lasagna, Mediterranean Vegetables, Wilted Spinach salad, deviled eggs, fresh veggie plate, garlic toast, and Cream cheese tarts for dessert.
This topped off with naps for some of us, a Magic card game for David, Dakota, his friend from school, and granddaughter Courtney. Cyn and I played pinochle with Wes and Richard as Deb watched.
All in all a pretty good day for all
As Promised!
Have a warm and loving Easter!

Little Ones Are Quick!
As the title says, I chased this little guy all over the deck. But I still need a better picture of him.
The angle on this guy didn’t show his little tuft!
I have several of these little guys visiting at a time. They love ‘grazing’ the deck floor!
Still trying to get the Cardinals together, also the Grackle, and the Blue Jay!
Today was a no nothing day for me. I made up my Easter baskets, hung my plastic eggs in the pass through, change the bed and did a washing. I laid down for an hour and a half this afternoon and that help kick start me but I never got out of first gear. Some days are just a little harder than others when you are waltzing through your seventy’s
Tomorrow starts the cooking for Sunday after a short shopping trip in the morning. We are making our cream cheese tarts for dessert with our home made cherry and blue berry toppings.
Hope all is going well with your Easter preparations and that it will be a beautiful day for you!

Offically Out Of Order!
Yes Brandy went to the Doggy Depot for an Easter Do today. Then of course after I take pictures of her Molly posed also!!
I did catch three more bird pictures over the last couple of days.
But if the truth be told I have been lost in “Duma Key” for three days with time out only to mop two rooms, do some grocery shopping, and make some meals. Yes indeed page number 609 past through my range of vision just minutes ago, If spooky scares you don’t pick it up. But if you are like me it will mesmerize you. Now I must return to the land of reality (mops, brooms, vacuums, dust clothes, and menus) to get ready for Sunday dinner.

OK So!
OK so I’m not wearing the green top hat!
OK so I’m a Shih Tzu not an Irish Setter.
OK so I don’t like cabbage!
OK so that’s not a corned beef brisket on my hat!
But you can’t blame me because my Momma is only a little bit Irish!
HAVE A VERY HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S ANY WAY!

Getting Busy!
Sunday! Throw up your hands and say what to do!
I’ve read the Email and the blogs.
My Free Cell games stand at 32,801 with 6 not mastered.
I’ve been to the store for bread and ketchup.
I have started two projects now. One you saw the other day and a cross stitch also.
To keep them separate I hung the cross stitch thread on the wall.
I also pick up some more pictures of my feathered visitors. The only one I’m in doubt on is the House Sparrow.
I saw my first Robins yesterday but I’ll have to go out in the yard to get that picture because they don’t come to the feeders. Also saw a Common Grackle and a Red-winged Black bird both of which flew off the minute I move in the window. I have been waiting to get a picture of both the male and the female Cardinal together but it looks like that may have to be two pictures instead. I missed the Blue Jay the other day and haven’t seen him lately so there is another one to watch for.
I am 1/3 of the way through “Duma Key” and can’t seem to put it down easily. The book being too heavy to read in bed makes it necessary to take time in the day or if I wake up in the middle of the night.
Starting with Thursday Jay and I will be grocery shopping for items to complete our menu for Easter Sunday dinner. Friday I will be cleaning house, the bird cages, the cat box and generally trying to make the place tidy enough to eat in. Saturday will be spent getting ingredients ready for Sunday Dinner and helping Jay make the dessert. Hopefully all three off springs, their families, Richard, and possibly Jeannie will join us on Sunday. So things will get busy towards the end of the week but it will be worth it.

Suds and Songs!
The picture on the left is a female Downy woodpecker and on the right is male Hairy woodpecker with what I believe is a a female American Goldfinch on the thistle feeder. My latest attempt to bring you my feathered visitors.
I stood on the front porch this afternoon and smiled a big All Right! The thermometer in the corner was reading a whopping 52 degrees. The sun is shining through both the bay window in the living room and the French doors in the dining area. The furries are sleeping in the warmth on the carpet and this momma is listening to all three of the Rod Stewart CDs on the Bose. I find my self singing along because I know all the words and this was the music I grew up with as a child. Yes big band, slow stuff, but romantic as the devil and I love it right along with the 50s, 60s, 70s up to some of today’s music. So I sit here swaying to the sounds that remind me of standing at the kitchen sink, soap suds up to my elbows, singing harmony with my Mom to these very tunes.
