Our Adventure!
This post is a pictorial of our Friday and Saturday adventure.
This is the site in the front yard after the first set of trees were taken down a couple of years ago. In the meantime another group was showing a tendency to lean towards the dome. Jay contacted Arbor View Tree Service in our area and they came out Friday.
Jay watched as they set up to take three trees down for us before he left for dialysis.
The three pictures below are of the same tree that had a double trunk.
Small limbs and branches were fed into a chipper on the spot by one worker while the other cut the trees up in manageable lengths.
With all the small stuff chipped and hauled away that left only the large logs to be cleared.
On Saturday morning our neighbor John arrived with his front loader and began cutting the logs shorter for carrying them in the bucket.
Several pieces had to be cut in order to load them.
It took three trips between our house and John’s to clear away the area. They were large loads as you can see.
This is what is left now. As you can see we have more trees that are dead or dying behind thus clump but they will have to wait until we can scrape together some more moola.
The yard is now clear except for a few equipment tracks and so our adventure ends for now!
Comments:
Wow, you have been busy with tree cutting. I imagine it is quite expensive to get someone to fell trees. We have so few out here that I don’t know of anyone who has cut one down.
Will you use the wood this winter in your fireplace or wood stove? For that matter are wood stoves still used. They have been outlawed now in many places here in California because of pollution?
Posted by Maria on 05/06 at 10:51 AMThe first set of three trees a couple of years back cost $2700. to cut and remove. These last three were $600. because it was a new company starting out and we had John take the wood away.
We don’t have a fireplace or a wood stove but neighbor John has an outdoor wood burner that he uses to help heat his house so he took the wood for nothing.
