Momma has taken a tumble.

Hello everyone. This is Momma’s son, Les, who got her into blogging so many years ago. I wanted to let everyone know that it will be a few days before Momma is able to post anything as she is in the hospital after having fallen while weeding her yard.

Details are a bit sketchy at the moment, but I do know that she has broken her leg and possibly dislocated it as well. She’s in a lot of pain, obviously, but is otherwise OK and is enjoying the finest in pharmaceuticals in the E.R. while they track down a bone specialist. It sounds like it’s a pretty bad break and they’re pulling out all the stops to get her mended. I know she would want you folks to know that she is out of commission for a bit, but that she’ll be back to tell you all about it as soon as she can be.

As soon as I have more details I will post them here and I will be sure to pass along any good wishes for a speedy recovery you folks would like to send her way.

  1. Mary,
    I was so sorry to read that you had taken a fall and broken a leg. What a way to start the summer. Bob and I are on a 14day RV trip in the Sierras. It is the same camp that we stayed at last year and it is a little like coming home.

    Les, Thank you for this post and I am looking forward to updates. As you well know, your mom is one special lady..

  2. My deepest sympathy and heartfelt wishes for an uneventful recovery. I broke a hip in Kenya back in 2005. The surgery was done in the U.S. but it still plagues me.

  3. Thanks, Les, for the update. Just got off the phone with both Dar and Jay (separately), both passing on the info. Please tell your Mom we are hoping she’ll soon be home (after rehab) and NO MORE ‘tumbling lessons’ in the yard!
    Hugs;
    Pammie

  4. Good to find a message here! Gotta love the Computer Techs who keep us all informed. Who’s looking after Jay and Brandy and Molly and the birds?

    Give Momma Mary our blog love.

    Thank You for this, and future, updates 🙂

    ~~love and Huggs, Diane

  5. Here’s a quick update: They were worried the break may have been due to bone density, but it turns out that wasn’t the case at all. She simply fell on it in just the right way. So they took her into surgery last night to get things set and she was out and awake before too long. Momma managed to break her femur, which is one of the strongest bones in the body, and during the surgery they put a metal rod in the bone itself along with a couple of screws to hold it all together so she’s now 0.001% bionic.

    Wes called today and said she was awake and doing well rating her pain at around a 0 to 1 on the scale of 10. Considering she’s high as a kite on pain killers that’s not too surprising. She’s supposed to start on rehabilitation immediately and she’ll probably be in the hospital for a few days yet, but she’s in good spirits.

    If you’d like to try to contact her directly, she’s in Genesys Regional Medical Center in room 4102. A Google search will get you the phone number.

  6. Oh my goodness! Mary get well, and stay safe from now on! That had to be a really bad fall! Thanks for the update Les! Tell Mary that Im praying for a quick recovery for her!

  8. All your kind thoughts means so very to me at this time it is going to be a bit of a trial but being able to have the surgery on the same day as the break made a world of difference in my attitude.
