Looking Good

Well it took a while to get started today.  But I’m here now.  It is 54 degrees, sunshine and wind at4-6 mph.  Still need a light jacket to be out side. but a pleasure to be there.

Our family has increased.

Cindy holding Brandy and Libby.

Libby is 4 months old. Lab +. and very well behaved.  She and Brandy haven’t bonded yet because Libby is so active but we are hoping she (Brandy)  will come around.

The new printer arrived yesterday .

It is a Cannon Business and Office machine.

Cindy and David got it set up for me. I’m still a little leary of using it but like everything else I will get to know it.  By the way the machine was paid for with Birthday gift cards from Micheal and Darlene (who I thank.)

Also the Butterfly Bush came in.

It is a Red,White, and Blue bush and will go along with our flag.

David planted it yesterday afternoon.. Thank you David.

The Lilacs at the side gate are beginning to bloom.

It is looking pretty good around here.

Still Working On It!

The Butterfly bush should be here by the 29th which should finalize the yard.except for Cindy’s plan.

We added this yesterday. One bird discovered it today.

David hung this yesterday.

It will go with the red, white, and blue Butterfly bush

My printer died a few days ago and Les came out today to try and fix it.  He check ir out, called the service number for it,and after trying to fix it we decided to buy a new one.  Thanks to  birthday gift cards I was able to buy it and I only needed another $28. to pay for it.

Big things are about to happen at our house tomorrow but I’m not going to spill the beans.

Good night!

Things We Love

Went to the storage unit yesterday and found another bit of home

I made this several years ago.

It was the last beaded item I made.  Since then the beads are strung in alternate fashion and I never mastered that.  This hangs next to an oriental mat that came from Dakota that hangs beside my bed.

Yesterday Cindy did this.

Here she is potting Petunias.

She moved the Snapdragons from a hanging pot to a container.  ( one of her favorite flowers)

The tulips beside the container garden have bloomed.

Their color is striking and adds another interest to the front yard.

The new look for the bathroom.

Still looking for something to hang on the hooks.

Lilly tries to help me open another box from the storage unit.

This contains several CDs that I wanted to bring over for listening pleasure.  Now it contains things like Supertramp, America, Abba, and other oldies I have collected.

A steaming dish of Shrimp Egg Role in a bowl that Cindy made.

This is a recipe from her diet list.  It was very good except it needs low sodium soy sauce because regular was too salty.

Well today looks to be a great day with sunshine and hopefully warmer temperature to go with it.  There is a pump to try out in the fountain, an American flag plus pole to hang and  bird feeders to refill, Maybe even a little swing time with Brandy and a book.

I hope your day is also as pleasant as mine plans to be.

Emptying The Dashboard.

Well Easter dinner was good but we missed two of our family due to other commitments.  I received a phone call from them but both had other duties to do. (just a little crestfallen but I understand.)

Here is xon Lesley and daughter-in-law Anne with grand daughter Courtney

Cindy and David

I was again behind the camera.  It was a tasty dinner and the blue bunny cake matched Annes fingernails!

Well yesterday I ordered a Butterfly bush from Michigan Bulb company to go in the left corner of the front  yard.  Then Cindy and I went out to Home Depot for the wooden guards to go around the base of the bush when it arrives.  We also picked up a pump for our fountain.

I brought this from my old house because I couldn’t stand to leave it behind.

While out we went to JoAnn’s for a sale for people over 50 years old.  ( I qualify).

This went in the vase at our inside kitchen window.

On the outside these caught our eye.

For the front door the butterflies were chosen

For the porch door the the nest one won out.

This was added to the backyard two days ago.

A new gazing  ball for my stand.

The flag was changed right after Easter

This is to match the visitors in the yard.

I’m waiting for the first of May because that is when the Humming bird  feeder goes up.  Our visitors so far.

A Red- Bellied  Woodpecker

Chipping Sparrow

several Mourning Doves. They sound like they giggle when they fly off.

The American Robin

There will be more as I catch them on camera.  It is a very, wet, rainy day (great for the plants) This is it for today

Preparing The Outside

Saturday was a busy day for all of us.

The Lilacs went in by the side gate.

David’s nephew, Mathew came over to plant the bushes and ended up doing several things to help us out.

He planted the Fire bush in the right corner of the front yard.

The sod he removed from both areas he moved to the area in the side yard where the inflatable was over Halloween.  He dug out that area and place the sod in there.

These are pictures of the  raised beds that David and Mathew put together under the front living room .window.  As you can see there are two sections.

Cindy and I picked the unit up at Sam’s Club,  We then hauled dirt to fill them and picked out the plants to go in them. We chose Viola Starry Night, Asiatic Lily, Woodland Phlox (Blue Moon),  Iceland Poppy (Champagne Bubbles), Carpet Bugleweed (Black Scallop), and the pancies from the containers,  Now this involve one trip for Cindy and me then she had to go back a second time.

David  enclose an area half way up on one side of the back porch.

We all took a hand at painting it.

The two openings will be finished to hold containers for plants.

David also refinished the front door that had some rust damage on it.

A very nice job that improved not only the looks but allows use of the entry.

the tulips next to the raised flower bed are ready to bloom

My little water girl was very busy!

More about Easter dinner tomorrow.

Decor And Flowers

More Easter coming your way before Easter really arrives.

Left side of the dining room window

Right side of the dining room window

The inside window in the kitchen

This concludes the Easter decor series.

This is the first of four bushes that went in the ground today.

Tomorrow the two Lilacs and the Fire bush go in the ground..

Yesterday I picked up Pansies.

This was after I read they survive in the cold

That is if they are in a container not in the ground yet.

Today we found this

Cindy and I really like them.

What are they? –Beats me. I don’t need a name to like something.

Next will come the birds that are visiting the feeders.

I hope your Easter plans are under control ours are.

Coming Together!

Yep it is getting exciting now.  We are expecting the ottoman and the side table any day now to complete the makeover in the living room.  Cindy ordered remote antennas for the tvs in the bedrooms which are due in anytime.  Cable and internet improvements are due tomorrow.

Outside my new gazing ball comes soon and there are four bushes to plant on Saturday.  The two lilacs will go by the side door gate.  I bought a Fire Bush and a Forsythia yesterday. Where they will go it is yet to be decided. .

Our Easter dinner is tentatively pizza, breadsticks, salad, and a bunny cake.  If we have trouble getting pizza on Easter I do have a beef dish I can make.

More Easter decor

This fellow is in the front room window.

The egg tree is on the kitchen counter

The egg bunny is on a side table in the living room.

My new reading material is Patricia Cornwell’s novel Ripper.  Printed on shiny pages though out it is heavy but the story line in almost biographical with pictures so it adds to the interest.

Well my zoo awaits and since David made french toast for our breakfast I had better hustle my bustle and start feeding.  Have a good productive day.

Back Now

Good Morning!    Well I have been away for a few days but I’m back now.  I have just finished Eoin Colfer’s novel, AND  ANOTHER THING and am so ready for a mystery.  Being a sequel to Hitchhiker’s Guide To The  Galaxy it was a difficult thing to get through.

We are now four days from Easter with a few more pictures of decor to show you.

This is in the inside window

The kitchen counter showing the eggs on the doors

On the fridge

The new chair came

Cindy tried it out and liked it

In the next couple of days a new ottoman  and a side table are expected.  Cindy picked both of them out.  The ottoman was chosen with Molly and Brandy in mind.  It has storage for extra blankets inside.

Yesterday David and I picked out a couple of things to improve the side porch. ( Pictures later).

Easter dinner will be non traditional.

Well it is 5:10 am so I think I’ll hit the tick for a couple of more hours have a great day.

Sleepy Time

Good Morning   It is gray, wet, and definitely down in the mouth weather this morning. The forecast is 39 degrees now with rain until tomorrow.. What does that do to our house?

Brandy moved from the bed to the sofa.

That is one of my crochet projects.

Lilly chose the back of my chair

Cali prefers a window seat.

Molly join the crew of sleeping beauties

All are back sleeping which to me on a day like today is the best thing to do.  But the good news is that for the next 9 days it should be no rain, the high (on Monday) should be 74 beautiful degrees.  The lowest (high) this week should be 46 degrees.

Today is nails day and I think I will go back to a ruby or maroon color again.  I think I’ll get Brandy groomed also. I took care of my zoo clean up yesterday so it is only feed today.

I need a visit to the grocery store for a few items I’m out of but I have my list started and if I stick with it It won’t be too bad.

I think it ids time to show you the bathroom Easter display.

It makes sitting a lot more pleasant than bare shelves.

The mirror didn’t escape either this time.

In the middle Panel

Mirrors make great places to decorate because they are big enough to let you still use them when you are done.

Well it is almost 10:30 and time to start waking up everyone and feeding.

David and I are working on clearing, sorting, and rearranging shelves, cabinets, and cupboards. Not a quick or easy job but if we stick with it we will realize more room and convenience.   It ain’t Spring cleaning but we can count it under that heading.
